Hi everybody. In late January my wife and I bought a new house close to her parents as age and health issues have become a major concern for us. With that said, we made a great buy on a house that needed work. There was nothing major wrong as it was built about 10 years ago but the previous owner applied hillbilly engineering to everything he touched. So we needed to address all the things he "fixed" around the house. We're moved in and the major work is all done so now it's time to address the garage. Here's a couple pics of the house as it looked when we bought it.
The garage has some interesting features installed by the P.O.:
I have no idea why it's on a pedestal. It'll be coming down and put to use.
Another major issue is the shelf in the back:
These feet are attached to it to keep it from tipping.
The only wall mount is this contraption on the top center:
The unit is made from 2"x 12" lumber that I'm assuming was left over from the home construction. it's heavy as can be and will probably survive a tornado ( which we had about 2 months ago. It went through the front yard and destroyed several of our trees but the house was mostly untouched) but it's an eyesore and I don't trust it. So it's going away.
It's not mounted anywhere except the top.
