sat in the garage trying to hunt down 15-20 mil vapor barrier for my garage build. Only big store place that carries any is HD and they want $600 for 2000 sqft. I need half of that.
The search continues.

So, just do like some other Home Depot shoppers do-

Buy it, use what you need and return the rest for a full refund because "you weren't 100% satisfied" . :lol_hitti

Seriously, don't do that...

So through dumb luck, I was able to grab these 4 filing cabinets from work right out from under the scrap guys that had showed up to pick up a bunch of office furniture that we couldn't sell.

I had passed on purchasing them because of the price & they seemed kinda ratty... The drawers were sprung or wouldn't close etc. After getting them to the house, I pulled all the drawers, massaged them a little & now they're a solid 8/10!

20160818_210900_zpscuunu28x.jpg

I still have a bit of moving around to fill the 2 small ones, but the 2 larger ones are already full.

The biggest pain was removing that bottom shelf to slide the cabinets in the corner. I sifted through the shelf's contents, consolidated & eliminated before stacking it back in there.

Now I just have to haul off the rusted cabinet that these replaced.

Over the past weekend, made a cabinet for my oil-change equipment. The intent is to have a place to store the drainpan and funnels so they have time to drain off and not get dirty. the foil catch pan is temporay unit I can find a good metal pan that fits the space. There is a matching cabinet with a full length door to hold the oil itself that I should get done this weekend.

Actually the foil pan is a great idea, it does the job and is disposable when its too gunked to be reused...

how do you do those hinges, i want to change the ones in my kitchen to the hidden ones?

Those are actually IKEA BESTA unit hinges . They have a nice soft close feature that works pretty slick and for $10 a set, they are hard to beat (on sale right now for $8.50). Actually they include a door bumpout spring that my wife had been wanting for another set of doors in our kitchen and I needed the hinges for this cabinet, so it worked out well.

The link GIT posted is a good overview of how the hinges are installed and the variations. These are the frameless style hinges. The hardest part about installing them was getting 35mm holes positioned correctly. It took me few trys on a piece of scrap to get the right offset from the edge so the door appeared flush with the frame.

Not a bad thought, but it just looks too cheap lol!

Jake, any links to the drain pan and used oil jugs? I'd like to do something similar. I'm currently using empty 5 gallon cooking oil jugs, but since they're white they look like **** after a while...

I whipped this up for the girlfriend's birthday. It's an old gold ring that I cut a black pearl disk for, then counter sank it from the back to hold the white pearl in place. Filled in the back of the ring with high gloss black epoxy.

Finished it off by drilling a hole in the black pearl, adding a sterling silver loop, and a black leather chain.

Made the hero's list for the day.

Made a list from my Amazon order: https://amzn.com/w/2XWKMBTP708EK

Maybe they make plastic tray the foil pan will fit into? baking stuff so... :dunno:

SWMBO suggested maybe a Photo tray? those often have pour spout corners as well...

Photo tray is not a bad idea, I will keep an eye out.

^If you don't have an Ikea nearby you should be able to get some from your local Home Depot. They have a decent variety. I picked up some of the ones linked below recently for an outdoor planter project I was working on. Worked great - like Binrat said the tricky part is getting the hole drilled in the right location. I searched and searched but couldn't find a template, ended up taking some measurements and a little trial and error - wasn't too bad. I did need to buy a 35mm forstner bit since I didn't have one. It was twice what the hinges cost but I'm always up for an excuse to buy a new tool :)

Been reorganizing and putting stuff away for a couple of days, I got to get this done as tonight I brought home a late 80's Matco double MB1220, (6 ft X 21 X 45-1/2 high, 18 drawers) and I need to play some tool box Tetris and a couple old ones will leave the building...

I just let myself in for some real work...

The "real work", and beginning of the "Tetris" started late afternoon to evening:

I unloaded the 16 friction slide drawers of the "Bretford Stack" (five units of office medical flat drawers) and removed 2 of the 5 units, the other 3 get moved tomorrow, then I need to clear a path to move the old dentist cabinet (38W X 18D X 40 something tall) which entails removing ALL the drawers and hen shifting the carcass, which is still heavy & awkward, and still needs everything off the top... That's the goal for tomorrow, move that... Sunday I'll shoot for moving the "new" Matco into place.

This little trailer followed me home today. I've been looking for a tire trailer to tow behind the E36 when this popped up locally. Complete with cooler, two locking boxes, and just enough room for four tires and the pop-up. All cleaned up, and test fit to make sure the wheels / pop-up fit. Quite happy with the purchase!

Did some reorganizing in the shed, chased the battery eating leaking current on my W123 (turned out the radio beeing the bad guy in the game) and followed the advice of my GJ fellows: sat in the garage and watched the rain.

After about 15 min of trying to cut a straight line on my tool box foam, I decided my 30 year old warped bench top had to go!!

New 3/4" hardwood plywood should do the trick!!

I'll be honest, we couldn't be more proud of you Hustler. That ingenuity kept you in the garage and having fun longer. Good brainwork right there.

Hustler I about :spit: whe I saw that garage door pic! But well done!

On the aluminum polishing, is that an orbital polisher, and what compound are you using? (I have two alum trailers that are candidates...)

For my day, I picked up where I left off last night:

Got the path made, removed 24 drawers, moved the old dentist cab and stopped long enough to wire wheel the one side that I had never gotten to painting, and painted it and after ti dried enough to strip the tape moved it into position. then I reloaded the 12 drawers on the left (dry) side tomorrow I'll reload the right side... did some prep work to make the path for the big MATCO wide enough to go, and swept/vacumed through out the day.

I'm completely on track to get the MATCO in place! :3gears:

Today I took apart a Kobalt Direct-drive Gearless ratchet to see what was inside and record a teardown / exploration video. Then I got in the house, started to transfer my footage and found out toolguyd already posted a full teardown and explanation of how it works. Oh well. At least I got all sticky! Wait that's not really positive...

Hustler, excellent job making a temporary polishing booth! Is that all cardboard and if it is, where do you get pieces that big?

I think I already know the answer (it's full of equipment) but would it have been possible to put the truck in the garage on a diagonal? I'm thinking a floor jack to finish sliding the front or read the last foot or two...:dunno:

We used to have to do that for a pair of Super Modifieds into a std 2 car garage! You couldn't fit them side by side, but sideways it worked.

It's Early yet, but I got the MATCO in its place, adn all before 9:00 AM! I still need to get everything else back where it belongs then start moving stuff from the Husky 11 drawer, and several other places, and into the MATCO... there is so much space under it, I'll get/make some sliding trays for down there!

I'd get a better angle but the husky is blocking the way...

And this was before, with just a clip of the old Husky showing (old pic from the "old Fasteners" thread (best I could do I took no pics of the chaos...):

Hustler, the car on jackstands was my second guess.

It's good to see appliance boxes used for something other than play forts for the kids.

I completely understand the crowded garage... yours looks less crowded than mine.

Nice 70 Chevelle and 69 Camaro. How 'bout more details? Same with the boat - can you share some specs?

Where are you in Mississippi? I grew up a few miles from the LA/MS border in Pearl River, LA.

New Bilsteins on the back of my beater '99 318i. Tried to change from swaybar bushings, but had the wrong size.

Would have been more productive, but ran 11 miles this morning and it was HOT.

Was going to order some bolts to fix my vise down but during the massive clean out I'm going through I found not one but two tubs full of Stainless Bolts just the right size.. Being an old Biker one just cannot leave Stainless alone..

Excessive..?

Working on the Ramcharger today trying to get the water temp sending unit put in for the FiTech EFI system in. I ended up pulling the entire intake off so I can take it to the Machine shop.

Zcar, I will be curious how well the FITech setup works for you. I have an older big block truck that has serious carb issues and I wanted to add fuel injection, seems like a easy setup.

Excuse the mess. Removed the hood and dog legs off the 1950 8N to replace the radiator, water pump, fan belt and crank pulley.

Played with the lift a little and am feeling really good about it!! Under hoist safety stands came in really handy.

Leaf spring swap on an old bronco today.

Added 2 of lift and leveled the *** end of it.

I have been doing a little work on the Triumph TR4a that my son and I are going to restore. The car has been sitting since the 1970's when it was wrecked. The good news is that it is not rusted in the floors, trunk and inner sills like most TR4's. The motor spins over on the starter and generates 50+ psi. It had nice green Castrol oil in it when we brought it home. The bad news is that something doesn't look right with the RF corner where the wreck was. The repairs are less than satisfactory. Spent today checking the suspension and frame and can't figure out what is wrong. I guess we won't know until we pull the body off.
