Wright Ten Point?

When did wright use the Ten Point moniker? I recently scored these off eBay. Both are 1/4DR, 5/16" and 3/8" respectively. I'm slowly building a set of these uniquely broached Wright sockets.

I always assumed it was made to fit two different 4 point sizes, but apparently it's made to fit hex and square? I'll have to try that out.

They were also known as Ten Point Sq Hex and sold as PowrKraft.

Here's the other one I own, found it a year or two ago. I figure it's much newer than the other two. This ones a 1/2DR 1/2". Guess I completely overlooked the "SQ HEX" marking when I got it.

Okay, I'm no math whiz, but I don't get the branding. Unless I'm missing something - it has 8 points. It's very much like a double-square, but the one square is recessed and slightly smaller. I get the concept and why it fits both hex and square. I just don't understand the branding.

I guess because 6pt + 4pt = 10 points? Trust me I was just as befuddled.

The 10 point name is to differentiate them from a traditional 8 point which Wright also make.

Aha, I see what you mean. Referring to the sum of the points on the fasteners it would fit, not the number of points on the drive, as usual. You could be right. It's the only thing that makes any sense.
