So where do you store all your stuff?

I see so many nice clean garages full of tools, but what about your camping gear, boxes of seasonal items like christmas lights, dog crates, snowboarding gear, pool/lake toys, 50 pound bags of lawn fertilizer, etc.

I will never get my head above water on my garage project unless I can figure out what to do with all the clutter.

12x12 shed, 8x10 wood shed, potting shed for the wife. Car related stuff in the shop. But, I have been getting rid of a lot of stuff lately, so I have more room to move around.

Only vehicle stuff and tools in the garage.

Yard tools in the shed

Camping gear in the trailer, when we go camping anything we don't need for that particular trip stays at home in the garage until we get home

Holiday decorations in totes in a large closet in the basement

Anything that doesn't have a home needs to find one, possibly at someone else's house

One reason I spec'd attic storage trusses in my shop build. Plus existing initial shop building already had it.

A 10x16 Tuff Shed, and four pickup loads to the dump later, and I have a clean garage.

Most of our our stored boxes are in the mezzanine above or in the 15 x 24 storage room. There are also plenty of 2' wide wall storage shelving at about the 8' level.

Holiday decorations in the basement. Backyard games and campfire stuff in a small 4x4 shed near the firepit. Camping stuff in the garage attic. Sports stuff hanging on garage walls. Lawn/gardening stuff in the rear part of the garage, separated from the main 2-bay part of the garage. Pet stuff in the laundry room in the house.

If I ever get around to building a deck, our bikes will go under there instead of hanging in the garage, along with my rototiller, cultivator, and lawn roller.

1/4 of the basement is unfinished storage, but has mostly pellets in it. Shed has garden equipment. Full second floor in the garage gets the overflow... But is mostly bicycles.

I always figured that's what sheds are for. It's easier having the yard equipment and pool supplies in sheds in the back yard closer to where they are used. That allows the garage to be for storage, maintenance and repair of vehicles as well as storage for the tools needed for those tasks.

Basement, back porch, old concrete milk house, 10 x 16 shed, and finally garage attic storage. There are a few very useful items in all that and a whole lot of junk that needs to be purged. Shop is tidy and well organized though.

Some in the Full Length attic though it isn't but a 1/4 full I do not keep a lot of stuff if it isn't absolutely required. Some in the back bedroom closet IE stuff that gets used but not often, 2 Cabinets in the bigger garage for RV gear and canoe hung up in the rafters . The Small attached garage is mainly a shop some dog stuff stored in a cabinet there . I cleaned out a bunch of stuff 2 years ago. I decided if it really has no use I am not keeping it around my kids are grown and do not decorate for holidays except xmas wreath on the door and ceramic table top xmas tree. If you have young kids you might as well build a shed just for them lol bikes, toys etc etc etc

Almost everything you mentioned - camping gear, skis, dog crates, all except the fertilizer - is in my basement.

It doesn't seem to matter how much room you have...possessions of the diligent scrap hound will accumulate to fill the space. Build up and in layers, strong shelfing a must. If you have the temperment for it try selling something. Ed. :)

I keep Christmas stuff and the like on shelves in my basement. I currently have yard stuff in the garage as I would prefer to save the money for a shed for building a new garage.
