Outlaw, I don't think you're right on that. There's no lip to catch on the bottom center. I think it was set up the same as my Snap On 26" box. There's holes in the side of the lid that correspond with holes in the face frame. There would be two rods, each approximately 12.5" extending out from the lock which would have an actuating lever. I may be able to fabricate something. Snap On parts might even fit if those are available somewhere.

I hadn't see those side holes. It sure looks like there is space for a cam to catch. Could it be using both the side holes and the catch cam?

Had no time for yard sales this week, and a busy Saturday too. Wife went to last day of an estate sale though, and texted me a photo of a Craftsman tool box, to see if I wanted it.

She told me the price was $120, but then followed with another text to say it was 75% off, due to last day of sale. I texted back that it should be no more than about $50, so I would take it. When she got home with it, she had negotiated the price to $30. I love this woman! :rocker:

The box has little diagrams on the inside of each of the three panels, showing which tools go where. Makes it much easier to fill, I suppose.

Love the little swing out compartments, for small items. And LOOK! I got free stuff with it, such as a GM water pump gasket. LOL :eyecrazy:

All in all, I think she did pretty well. Only problem is, I have no wall space left. Now I've got to try and find a place to put it.

Tell the wife that you love the new tool themed "tie cabinet" she bought you and can't wait to mount it on the bedroom wall next to the closet.

View media item 63272Rainy boot sale today but some good finds.
Makita screwdriver was £5 works fine I just need to find the correct bit holder for it.
All the DBE wrenches (a whole load are Elora most of a SAE and a Whitworth set) rest are British, welpers, Gordon 6" adjustable, small CK cutters, the SOE wrench (its a gas bottle wrench) and the Footprint hand drill was £2
Everything else 50 pence each
The Craftsman raised panel 3/4" is a -vv- and a very very unusual find here, most American tools I find are older and most likely from the military. Also new Craftsman drills 1/16" &
1/8", the General drill gauge and the Stanley Hi glow, i have a set of those but they were "neon" branded here.
Raised panel wrenches are so horrible i wouldn't normally buy them but that Craftsman looks unused and 3/4" is a size you can't have to many of.
Also got a pair of nice 3 pint glass jugs for £1 each not pictured.

Picked up a car rotisserie for $60 yesterday.... Needs a little work but the casters are probably worth that much.

Took a walk through the local flea market this morning. First time in over a month. Not much to look at today. Another tool hunter I know of was leaving as I was just getting started. Not sure what I might have missed, but if I keep an eye on his CL listings this week I'm sure I'll find out. He mentioned the possibility of having a yard sale Labor Day weekend, maybe I'll swing by.

I did manage to get a $5 SnapOn/PLVMB deal, but not as good as a box full like we've seen recently.

16 spot 1/2dr hanging socket rail (SnapOn????)
SnapOn 1-3/16" SW-380-1/2 (1947)
---------1-1/8" SW-360-1/2 (1946)
PLVMB 1-1/16" 5434
--------1" 5432 (AB)
Craftsman 15/16" (=V=)
PLVMB 7/8" 5428 (CB)
--------13/16" 5426 (CB)
--------3/4" 5424 (CB)
--------5/8" 5420-S (*)
SnapOn 7/16" SW-140 (1944)

The picture includes the duct tape it all was wrapped in. Lots of tape residue to clean up.

Sunday drive with SWMBO to go hiking in mid-state Mass. Had a great time climbing Mt Watatic and hit a flea market and a yard sale on the way back. Nothing of interest at the flea, but picked up this 413G Coleman white gas stove for $25. It's looks like it was used once. Some surface rust inside and cloudy paint on the outside, but still very clean.

Got a couple things this weekend.

Craftsman 257.191200 1/4 HP USA-made bench grinder plus Partner wheel. Yard sale find for $10.

Wright 2400 1/4" drive ratchet. Flea market find for $2.

The Wright 2400 beats out my SK-Wayne 40970 for my smallest-headed ratchet, but its handle is slightly longer. I was surprised to see that it has a 1973 date code since it looks basically brand new new.

Got a couple of wrenches today just because I like the design. Searched the box for more, but these were all there were. The markings you see are all there are... anyone know who made them? It looks like they were plated, but I'm guessing only a thin nickel plate right on the steel. It's mostly gone.

The Wright 1/4" (and the 3/8" in 1/4" body) are tiny but so lovely. Great ratchets especially for $2

Went out for day two of the last big sales this AM/ found a few things, but not a single "tool box" tool...

A browning pocket knife, So sharp on the main blade I started to cut myself checking the blade! Someone spent some time on this blade, as it has a constant taper from the back to the edge. This is the second one I've had like this. I had a similarly honed Buck, but it disappeared... $5 for this one.

attachment.php

4 brass Trangia alcohol stoves. two appear to ever have been used other than to sit in a garage. $10 all!

attachment.php

And the polish up decently also!

attachment.php

Same guy, I got a set of Peck, Stowe & Wilcox snips, sans pivot bolt "Take it", then the Same for the Jerry can cap with a good rubber gasket "I don't have a can", and the Coleman stove legs and air deflectors were in his free pile!

attachment.php

Also in the Free pile was the tank manifold and burners from that stove.

attachment.php

Watch for the wind deflectors to surface in the "Camp Gear" thread...

Outlaw,
I bought a couple of those alcohol from the Army Surplus on the south side of Idaho Falls last year when I went through there. They have a couple of big boxes full of them. I think if I remember right they are Swedish military stoves.

I made an early morning pick off of fb and scored one 3-1/2" swivel base Wilton and 3 swivel base 4" Wilton's .One doesn't have jaw inserts but I know a guy up in the Rockies that can hook me up! Also a 4" American Scale Red Seal swiveler. Then I seen out of the corner of my eye the horn of an anvil sticking out from under the guys bench and asked if it was for sale also. Sure enough so I loaded it up as well. It's a 119 lb Wilkinson and has a hardi tool with it made by Atha tool works. Not sure what the purpose of it just yet but I will.
Now I didn't get these for crazy low prices like Joe does. Here in the mid west this stuff draws big money. So I had to give $625 for every thing but I'm sure in time I'll come out ok...

Anyone know when they were making this handle style? I have gathered a few screwdrivers like that.

Barcalo. AA refers to them as 'geometric panel'.

Top: WELL DONE and good eye. you should do fine especially if you have any time to spiff them up. the anvil would get most of that back up here. also looks like you might be able to fill up a page over on the Wilton date stamp thread with all those bullets.

Here's my $20 Cornwell box in use, with liners, a new stay and lock. I was able to get everything I needed from Home Depot. HD even had some 3/16" steel rod to fabricate locking bars, but I don't think I'm going to bother. The cabinet lock cam keeps the door closed (which is enough for my purposes) but doesn't really lock it since you can open the box just by lifting the lid. I spent as much on the hardware as I did on the box. The "lid support" from the cabinet hardware selection at HD was exactly the right size. I just had to modify it slightly by removing the end bracket.

I migrated over all my 1/2" tools since the drawers in my other box were overloaded.

I believe those are Barcalo-buffalo wrenches. I recently acquired a single wrench that looks identical, but has the Barcalo name.

Thanks Drive I don't have time right now but I will this winter. The anvil should bring $5.00 a pound and yes nearly paying for my entire pick! The Red seal should make up the rest and cover any parts I need for the 4 Wilton's making them all gravy!

Scored some old wooden cobbler tools. Not sure what they are called or what they all do but wasn't leaving them behind. Just too nice and I never miss a chance to learn something new about an old tool.

It was a good day. Went to see about the $45 machinist box (no name), also got a $7 mismatched Parker 4" and assorted hardware. Solid brass door knocker is pretty neat.

The new truck is my new daily driver/ temporary work truck. The chevy is gone but I want to get either a gooseneck trailer or an older truck for a service rig.

 With out a doubt ! There is a second generation saddle maker in my area that when I get a minute I plan to pay him a visit and pick his brain. Hopefully he'll know what they are or at least head me in the right direction.

Hit a sale that was so big this is the third weekend. I was out of town for the other two, wish I had seen it when it was totally full! Over 70 vises!

Pic 4: Craftsman Commercial block grinder that wont spin up properly and makes bad noise. Picked it up for parts since it has the cool grinder wheel shields with exhaust ports.

For those of you who like follow-ups the block grinder turned out to be a 1 HP mode with 8" wheelsl, it is wired wrong and the on-off switch is broken, hopefully with a new switch and correct wiring this will purr again!

Right you are!
I confirmed it on Alloy Artifacts, about 3/4 of the way down the B-B page. If the listings are chronological, it's from late 50's to early 60's. I'd have guessed it much older. My guess on the plating was wrong, though. It's cadmium, not nickel.

Thanks!
