Four Cycle, those wilde chisles you linked to are a stock item at menards. That five piece set lists around $15 and gets better with sales, and the regular 11% off. They are a great product for the money, far better than the modern craftsman ones.

i got this, and i have bought several other things from them (the paypal stuff refers to Heather, but i have also received email from Trevor).

today, this ratchet appeared. when i opened the package, it was inside an Armstrong sealed bag. i opened the bag, and went to spin the ratchet, as is my custom with new things that spin, and the ratchet was jammed. the selector was all the way to one side, and would not move either.

i emailed them thru ebay, around 8am this morning, and by 9 i had gotten an email back apologizing. they refunded the money i paid, and suggested i contact Armstrong.

since i wouldn't lie to armstrong, i told them that i bought it on ebay. they were polite, but obviously not happy. they put me on hold to confer, and came back several minutes later, and told me that they usually only warrantied tools for the original owner. i interrupted her to remind her that it was in an armstrong bag, with a 2016 date printed on it. she continued to state that while they would not replace the ratchet, they would send me a repair kit, which is actually all i wanted. after giving her all my information, she apologized, and told me that "you might have to wait awhile, the system lists the delivery date as "backordered".


so, the ebay seller tgra2192 gets "two thumbs up" as someone i would recommend, and and very pleased with their prices and service (they also ship quickly). armstrong, on the other hand, only gets "one thumb up", they dealt with me, but made it a less pleasant experience than it needed to be.

Sometimes the grease in rachets will get stuck and you just have to take apart and clean out well and regrease. May not even need a repair kit. Having said that, if 2016 date, this is highly odd, and you probably do need a repair kit for this one. I bought the standard 3/8 from this seller. Great deal on that and a premium rachet for sure! Not as smooth as those Italy Facom made Protos though (but may be with grease)! Everyone on GJ should get one of those some how. Zoro 30% off days are a good way. - Paul

Yes, Wilde from Menards when on sale is a great deal. Menards will ship wherever, just a little moer for shipping but if you got several things on a super sale, might still be a better deal than you could get anyplace else. I love Menards. - Paul

I have the Hazet tool box. Have had for about a year. Its massively over loaded with maybe 80 lbs of tools. Handles haven't broken off yet. Works very nicely.

you can't get the selector/pawl out because the pawl was not attached with a screw, it was beaten on. i added some grease, and sealed it back up. it works in one direction (poorly), and not in the other at all. but the kit will replace all the moving parts inside, so i will be all set when it arrives. i was not able to find a copy of the directions for the kit online, so i dont know the recommended procedure for removing the paw/selector. just need to wait, i suppose . . . . .

no, i didnt notice any markings inside. where? on the inside of the black faceplate? i would imagine it would not be cut into the frame, since i assume that would be the same "part".

no, i didnt notice any markings inside. where? on the inside of the black faceplate? i would imagine it would not be cut into the frame, since i assume that would be the same "part".

The pic I have seen is the 88 is stamped into the frame at the bottom of the inside cavity.As I stated the model # is the same for both ratchets with only a small marking on the handle to note any difference.I need to go back and find the thread that showed all this and post a link.One way to tell if it is truly an 88 tooth ratchet is to note the position of the detent ball and rotate the ratchet 360* while counting the clicks.
