Had left my harbor freight air compressor out on my deck for an extended period of time. Went to use it and all was fine, no issues with the grit blaster but about 20 minutes in, water started mixing with the baking soda that was being shot out. Looked at the water/oil separator and saw this. It did this if I pushed on the air release at the bottom of the trap and pulled the trigger on the grit gun. I was doing this releasing the pressure in the tank as I lost the key ring for the release valve. Should I open up the large drain on the bottom of the tank?

Most compressors have a 50% duty cycle, half hour running and half hour off. You also need a better moisture filter for incoming air, and an automatic drain. The moisture in the hot compressor tank is condensing when it goes into the colder air lines/hoses and ends up in the air going out of the a/c when blasting for long periods of time, hence water in your soda.

I'll start looking into these filters. As for it not being vertical, if it's completely vertical it hits on something. Can't remember what. I'll double check tomorrow.

Water separators work best when the air cools down so the water can condense. I put one on my blast cabinet right where the air connects so the air can cool in the hose before it gets there. The one I use for work usually goes on the end of a 50' hose and then I run a thinner ~100' from there (I frame houses so I need that much hose)
