I guess I'll collect whatever falls into my lap. I come across BOG sockets now and again, but I don't pay much attention to them. However, I have come across a number of interesting items that I thought I'd share with you.

First up is a set of 1/2" drive sockets in a metal box. I don't think the box is original, and if it is, it's ruined because someone cut a relief in it to allow for a ratchet to fit in it (1/2" Thorsen, open gear - in case you were wondering).

Notice the stampings are in different orientations and/or locations. Process control was not very important, apparently.

$3 at ReStore.

The second item is a reversible hex drive ratchet I found at a swap meet back in July. I had forgotten about it and it has sat in a box of tools I purchased that weekend. If memory serves me right, I paid $2-$3 for it. AA dates it as far back as 1924.

I cleaned it up with a wire wheel and tested both directions. It works like a charm!

Finally is a 29/32" spark plug socket I found at ReStore last week (.50).

Anyone else have Bog tools they'd like to share?

Brian

Oh man, I wish my phone wasn't broken right now otherwise I'd take some pics. Started collecting bog a while back to try and figure out what some of the manufacturing differences were over the years since little is known about the company. As of now I've got a couple full sets with boxes that have decals & paint mostly there, a couple specialty sockets, and a good number of misc wrenches/fixed sockets. Best stuff on earth in my opinion. Very precise manufacturing techniques, unmatched attention to detail, and basically indestructible. I'll try and find a camera today

Yeah yours looks like the original box. Those sets came with a 202 ratchet and an extension that would sit in front of the sockets. Someone selling a bog catalog on ebay was brilliant enough to put all the pages up in large format pictures, so naturally I saved them and compiled a pdf... I have it, but the upload is too big I think? Regardless it won't let me upload the thing

BOG tools are the most stout 1/2" drive tools I have seen in terms of thickness and weight, they were really built tough. Pictured are some of the BOG tools I own. Particularly interesting are the two big free wheeling ratchets and the one swivel socket with the spring to keep it from flopping around. Love BOG MFG tools.

Absolutely! Check your email here in a few minutes and it should be there. It was too big to email, so I'm trying the google docs thing. If you're interested in compiling some bog mfg research together I'm totally willing to contribute as I have been really interested to find out more about that company. I have 6 mostly complete sets spanning the whole range of their 1/2 drive/hex offerings over their whole run as a company, so I'll try and get some pictures of them.

There was a BOG #496 (13/16") wrench on the shelf of 3/4" drive stuff I bought last Friday. It is at the bottom right of the photo. As far as I can tell, it is my first BOG piece.

I picked this BOG MFG CO wrench today. It stood out, due to the odd handle and I remembered seeing something similar on a catalog page someone posted here.

I just looked it up on AA and it is a Ford connecting rod wrench for servicing the fourth connecting rod on a Model T. I am not going to be needing one of those around here, so if anyone wants to add it to their BOG collection, I'd be willing to part with it.

According to the ad on AA, it was "the handiest Ford wrench made!" "absolutely guaranteed".
