Since no set from Sears has ALL of them. Some have been discontinued. Some are hard to find, and most seem to still be made in the USA. I was thinking of making a holder for mine that I could mount above my tool bench. But, I wanted it to be complete. Here is a list of what I have come up with. Hoping some of you guys have some input. Maybe some older ones, or ones I have missed. These are all the ones I could find with part numbers. Anyways, thought this was good information to share!

I come up with 10 Phillips, and 19 Slotted.

Slotted:
3/32 X 1 1/2 41541 (Small Clear)
1/8 X 2 41421 (Pocket Clip)
1/8 X 4 41589
3/16 X 1 1/2 41854 (Stubby)
3/16 X 4 41581
3/16 X 4 41247 (Cabinet)
3/16 X 6 41577
3/16 X 8 41248 (Cabinet)
3/16 X 9 41582
1/4 X 1 1/2 4151 (Stubby)
1/4 X 4 41583
1/4 X 6 41584
1/4 X 8 41578
1/4 X 12 41585 (Extra Long)
5/16 X 1 3/4 41586 (Stubby Shank, Long Handle)
5/16 X 6 41579
5/16 X 8 41587
3/8 X 8 41852
3/8 X 12 41588 (called this one Big Jim my whole life..)

Phillips
0 X 1 1/2 41542 (Small Clear)
0 X 2 1/2 41293
1 X 1 1/2 41855 (Stubby)
1 X 3 41294
2 X 1 1/2 4118 (Stubby)
2 X 4 41295
2 X 6 41853
2 X 8 41296
3 X 6 41297
4 X 8 41298

I have one Clutch here, old enough to be chrome plated, #41136, stamped 3/16 on the shank. I think they offered more than one. There were also at least two Robertsons, No.1, #41141 and No. 2, #41142.

There were a whole load of Robertson's, sold only in the Canadian market. Do you want those, too? (I think I have 10+ of them.)

The only scratch awl I have is part number 41028 L WF A.
WF is western Forge, I don't know what the L and A mean.
I also have a small red handle phillips part number 47100 R PR all red handle, about 3 1/2".

Wow, thanks for the lead on the clutch. I didn't have that one. I do have that particular scratch awl myself. I definitely would want all the part numbers for the Canadian Robertsons if it isnt too much trouble wssix99. Thanks for all the great information!

Have a few more Torx for your list. All have black blades instead of silver.
T9 - 41134
T8 - 41133
T7 - 41132
T6 - 41131
T5 - 41130

Also a couple multi-bit screwdriver handles that share the same handle pattern.
4" Multi-bit - 43370
4" Multi-Bit w/ Storage Cap - 49099

Sears / Craftsman also sold a line of high visibility orange handled screw drivers, all with the same part number, as well as solid red handled screwdrivers. At the time, I think they were all 99 cents each

I remember those as well. They looked just like the ones I am talking about but were clear and red and were all flat on the end instead of the ball on the end. They all had the same part number. Oddly that part number was shared years later on with a set they made that was solid red and then solid orange like you said, but looked exactly (in shape) as the standard set of Craftsman screwdrivers.

They make a jewelers set that has smaller flats and phillips. I want to say the phillips are 0, 00, and 000 size. Also they make a set of micro torx ones too.

The Reed Prince is a really cool one. Hard to come by. I have some of the solid black "Racing Flag" ones myself, but have never seen the set. Do they all have the same part number like the other sets do?

I'm not sure if these fit the bill, but here are a few more.

Specialty:

4319 Cotter Key Extractor
41397 Tack Puller
41513 Hook & Pick Set (4 pc)

They make a jewelers set that has smaller flats and phillips. I want to say the phillips are 0, 00, and 000 size. Also they make a set of micro torx ones too.

41105 Mini Torx Set (5 pc)
41106 Jewelers Set (6 pc)

Over the years there have been variants of the regular handled drivers, as already mentioned. I am aware of solid colors in orange, red, green and black (black seem to be only "pocket" size). A few appear in this GJ thread: Anyone collect...

Edit: Just saw that the tack puller has already been listed.

Thanks, a lot guys. I am trying to keep up, as you can see the list keeps growing. Looks like for at least the slotted/phillips main line stuff. There are 29.

I guess maybe I should compare this list to what I have as I put all my stuff away I think I probably have about 150 or so CM drivers to go through. This is going to be interesting.....

These types of threads always worry me that they may contribute to certain individuals' unhealthy personal issues...

Before I comment any further, I feel obliged to mention two things:
- If anyone out there feels that they may have a problem, there is hope and help: https://iocdf.org/about-ocd/treatment/
- If you are reading this thread and feel that you aren't sure if you have a problem or firmly belief that you don't have a problem - try going out and buying a non-Craftsman acetate-handled tool and see what happens. If you can make the purchase, you are probably safe...

I personally enjoy the acetate handled tools and have a strong preference for them. I have successfully made non-Craftsman acetate purchases, so I will declare that I do not have a personal problem... I continue to prove this to myself by distancing myself from Sears/Craftsman. If you haven't heard... an evil gremlin has taken over the Sears and is driving it in to the dirt. This has forced Craftsman in to other and lesser retail outlets who have less liberal warranty and less accommodating customer service policies...

The time has come for us to all realize that the end is nigh. We must secure our life preservers, head to our muster stations, and prepare to board our life boats. (Fortunately; since we are sailing across a sea of grease - we need not worry about women/children/men ratios.)

For posterity:
- Western Forge made most of the Craftsman acetate tools. They produce the same stuff for other brands, so there is some hope for the future: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_Forge (Note the "WF" stamped on some of the tools.)
- "How its Made" did a nice show on these tools being made. Of particular interest is how acetone will shine up this material - but watch out - I expect that it will also dissolve the paint added during the last step:

I definitely would want all the part numbers for the Canadian Robertsons if it isnt too much trouble wssix99.

Here's the other stuff in my toolbox:

Robertsons: (From my earlier research, it appeared that the #0 was only offered in 4" and the Stubby was not offered for the #3)
#0 - 4" 32253 Yellow
#1 - 1" 32250 Black (Stubby)
#1 - 4" 32247 Black
#1 - 8" 32172 Black
#2 - 1" 32251 Red (Stubby)
#2 - 4" 32248 Red
#2 - 8" 32173 Red
#3 - 4" 32249 Green
#3 - 8" 32164 Green

Mini Phillips Screwdrivers:
00 - 41061
000 - 41060
0000 - 41059

Mini Flat Head Screwdrivers:
3/32" - 41058
5/64" - 41057
1/16" - 41056

Misc:
Gasket Scraper - 45498
Tap Handle - 52171
Key Chain - No number... (Just an American flag.)

Here's a complete set of seven Craftsman clutch head drivers. I believe Sears/Craftsman stopped offering them in the early to mid 1970s.

I have to ask, is for a collection or do you really need all these drivers for your hobby or job?

I suppose a bit of both. I use most of the screwdrivers, torx, and a couple of the specialty tools on a more/less daily basis. Which is why I wanted to build a holder for them to save space and make them easier to access. But I figure if I am going to build this thing. I may as well have all of the part numbers and a slot for all of the tools. I want it to look nice. It is the OCD and addiction to USA made tools that is responsible for the rest. Like all the gimmicky reversible and multi bit drivers.

I've got a couple odd ones that I'm not sure are on the list since I don't know the p/n's

the scratch awl, I've got clr/blu acetate, and wood handled.

the 1/4" magnetic bit set, 2 kinds with storage, one clear white cap, one black cap, and one red/clr/blu with no storage.

is your "Big Jim" 12" total or just the blade. I've got a really long one seems like it's more like 18" but have to check.

what about the clear acetate but all red (red bottom ring and red inset)? I just picked up a handful of those flat blades this weekend I am getting ready to swap (tips junk).

I also have some Husky that are identical in every way to craftsman, clear acetate, red/blu color. probably made by Western Forge...

any interest in the black handled black shank drivers? not sure if those are pro version or what but got a couple of those I can check the p/n for ya if you want...

also have some flat blades that are round shank instead of square, do you have those listed?

Hi kdealkev,

There are no part numbers, as they were manufactured in the early 1960s before part numbers were standard on Craftsman tools. Based on a few older Craftsman tool catalogs I've reviewed, Sears/Craftsman offered seven clutch head drivers in two different styles, those being "Type A" and "Type G." The Type A sizes included 5/32", 1/4", and 5/16". The Type G sizes included the same three as well as a 3/16". All the handles are marked with the words, "=CRAFTSMAN=", "FORGED" and "VANADIUM." They also have a "G" manufacturer's mark. The shanks are stamped with respective their sizes, 5/32", 1/4", etc.

snapped some pics of my extra stuff in storage. if you see anything odd you want me to grab a p/n off of, let me know.

also noted that the older Phillips are marked "Genuine Phillips" but sometime later they dropped the "Genuine" marking...

Did Craftsman ever market JIS screwdrivers? If not, a BIG hole in the lineup!

None labelled JIS (as far as I know), but Craftsman did recently have a Phillips head "Ball Grip Screwdriver," made in Japan by Vessel, which some here said was JIS. I bought a couple on clearance but have yet to use them.

Hey Jim,

Could you post a photo or two of your clutch head driver? I've never seen one with a part number before. My guess is that it was produced right about the time Craftsman tools started including part numbers. I think Sears/Craftsman discontinued clutch head drivers in the early 1970s.....give or take. Anyway, let's see what you have. Thanks.

This is becoming more of a museum display vs. a tool holder. :)

If you really want to get everything, Ancestry.com has all of the Sears Catalogs - ever scanned and available for searching/reading. The only catch is that you have to pay for a membership.

I think I am going to start with the functional set, build it. and fill it. Basically just the Phillips, Slotted, Torx, and a couple of the specialty ones. Considering it is going to take 20 years to get all the other ones rounded up. I will post pictures as I get her going. Thank you everyone for your help, I learned more than I expected, I think we all did.

I got a craftsman clear and blue handled screwdriver the tips come off not like a modern one but they slide on over shaft and then you lock them on very odd the flat tip looks like a blade that tapers down and top unscrews to hold other tips, I only have 2 tips flat and Phillips it might be all it came with anyone ever seen one like this the handle has a strange shape all so. If someone collects craftsman and wants it pm me I also have a lot more even a couple jeweler ones I like odd tools

It looks like you'll need to accelerate your plans or look just for used tools... Sears just announced "last call" for Craftsman (as we know it) yesterday: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...n-said-to-draw-interest-from-black-decker-tti

When one of these other companies buys it, that will spell the end for Western Forge involvement in Craftsman tool making. (These companies will keep it in house. ... um, I mean in their house in China.)

I

have owned a set of these w/ about 30pcs since probably the late 80's and up until recently I discovered how mediocre at best these were, IMHO. I have pulled all of them out of my tool box but cant figure out what to do with them? I had thought about giving them to one of my son in laws...? I find the tips didn't hold up well.

I have the set of nut drivers too not shown, fwiw.
