So I let the flooring section know of my plans to tile the garage floor. Check it out to see what I have scheduled to lay in late September or early October. Here are a few pics of the current space. a0613b542bc4125cdd50b77f637b2eb0.jpgaa363c3367019bcf160655bbc9cb3f2f.jpg9b904958b9a345d7bf855fe5a2ebbbf0.jpgd929172199e2619ebe28c12857219c8a.jpg1884aaa7f98b3fa4b0d9bbb7d6f0a36c.jpg

Once the tile is complete, I have plans for more storage. The size and construction of the cabinets is up in the air. I do know I want a place for everything behind doors. Is suppose I have ideals for a high finish to the space. I guess I am a bit OCD. Sorry if you actually are OCD, no offense intended. But I want the garage to be better than living space. It's where we host parties. This is our town bandshell as seen through the garage opening. 8b44735fbf8d5e6d117789eaf8ae3b12.jpg

As you see, I have some nice SAMs club storage cabinets, both wheeled and wall units. I have a lot of stuff put in them. 33dfa9c274e821d4893ec9d89a4bbd6d.jpg817384912cabdc9a0d8da54b2fc23447.jpg

This work bench is created out of a solid wood desk discarded from work. I took off the metal legs and lifted the desk using 4x4s. I have a good friend with a metal fab business. And he made this top for me to my dimensions. 9040af836c0f81ce137c54d56f79287f.jpg

Anyone recognize the issue? I told him it was a 3x5' desk top. It wasn't. It was a 3x6' desktop. [emoji15]. So after looking at it for a while, I decided to use the top anyway and cut down the desk. It works quite well. It is solid, rolls easily, cleans up well and I think looks pretty good.

The pic. 9bce2aadfd463e5056896948236401ff.jpg

I'm thinking cabinets will start at the left edge of the '32 ford poster to the right edge of the far right cabinet. This row of cabinets I'd like to have at working height for me. I'm 6'6", so kinda high. Tops in butcher block or stainless maybe a blend of both.

This clutter is hard to hide. c3afdbb2fa242b3a2d2f54e60c6b94e3.jpg
I'm looking to build a closet to the left of the work cabinets. About 6x8' with walls that would reach about 3/4 to the ceiling. Enough to hide the ladders. And mostly mask the cool yet cluttered piping for the radiant heat boiler.01cab4dabf9ab9eedba1bef58828170f.jpg
I'm not sure yet but a sliding barn style door for access could be unique. Other ideas are very welcome.

I'd plan to relocate the wall cabinets to over the work bench. Probably two on each side of the window. That would leave me an extra cabinet. I'm sure I'd find use for it somewhere.

To. The right of the window, I'd relocate the refrigerator. a8ce9c62ca4beefd68bbb6ad9c44c1be.jpg
The tape measure is probably where the wall for the closet would extend.

Under the window, I'd like to find a way to make use of my porcelain shop sink we pulled out of our laundry room when we updated a few years back.

I'd like to add a "cheap" tankless water heater since it would get minimal use. Not wanting to spend a bunch for hot water when cold is fine most occasions. Put on a tall commercial kitchen sink style faucet for buckets etc. So, the dilemma, I can't add a drain. I'm thinking of having the full sink in view, with the sink sitting on a lower cabinet so I can keep a wash tub or 5 gallon bucket to collect the water. Ideas?

To the left of the sink will be kitchen counter height cabinets to match the work bench in looks alone. Thinking butcher block here for tops.

The tv will go on the wall. The safe will get moved over to this space between the garage door opener and the outlet. d0ac7bba4fcccece7bde9210dbbe19d2.jpg

More ideas for the closet. I'd like to put the compressor in there and plumb hose to two ends of the garage so I have hose reels on both ends. Still not sure how I'll set that up.

The closet has to house two 6' ladders, the compressor, which I'll give as much space as possible in case I upgrade to a larger unit. Of course, the electric panel and boiler is in there. I'd like to change the water nozzle location and have the hose on a hanger if some sort. The pressure washer, shop vac brooms, jacks and stands will also go in the closet. Whew! Not sure 6x8' is going to cut it! I think I'll put all those things in that corner that will be sitting on the floor to see before anything is built.

These benches will get repurposed as a large island d10ae7bbe9e8888f2fb5370adaeeee32.jpg
I've had them both back to back in front of the tv about where the tire table is now.

I'll try to keep this corner clean and uncluttered, but it will probably be where the gas cans and car wash wands are kept.

The truck fits with lots of room. But, it's summer and the snowmobiles are in storage. They will come in after the tile is down and I'll get them ready for another snow season.

Nice spot man. Is that a gutter in the floor?

Yes, I have a floor drain. I don't think they allow that anymore here. I have two septic style crocks next to the garage.

What are the dimensions of your garage? That just looks like a nice, healthy-sized space to me...

30x40' with 10' side walls. That's all zoning would allow without a variance. But, it fits my lot without using up all my yard space. We are on a corner lot. This is the view from east to west. fcbe5252ec1b8172fca3259c4d58d450.jpg

I thought I'd share my hidden chain fall hanger locations.

The caps open to allow the chain to drop. The chain in the ceiling is attached to old farm combine equipment steel rods larger than one inch in diameter and about 12' long.
The rods lay in the valley of the truss sections. c13311c8836b617b53a8f3a51a533009.jpg
Sorry, can't see the rods under the blown in insulation any longer. Hope you see what I mean by valley.
I've lifted 500lbs or less with no noticeable stress on the trusses or the steel rods supporting them.
This is the only chain-fall I have and use it to lift my lawnmower for deck cleaning and snowmobile for track swaps, etc.
a1fd617eed9fe473ae9e6bbb7cb285b9.jpg

There are 4 of them depending on where the project work space is.

Getting started on the porcelain tile. Here are a couple pics. I will follow through with updates in the flooring thread. bad729998488ffdd6265261aaadd5603.jpgfd832cb3039a6a62be1b44cf1e8e7b8b.jpg

I will admit I winced a bit seeing a sink directly under the main panel. Seems there must be a safer place to put it.............

Lol, the inspector thought the same thing. It's just sitting there. Not hooked up. No water, unused. Just a place to store it until it gets repurposed. [emoji4]

Tonight's pics. Mostly done on this side. Needs to get grouted so I can move stuff over so the floor can be cleaned and prepped. 6bdca6820406c83d713e7d3a06190eb7.jpg0606617e95bbd5124f6f13194ed483a7.jpgff1da27eaf081ee9023ee3745baef849.jpg17457e3f452896ef1131ea4a0eec9fe8.jpg

Not much to report on progress. This half needs grout still. I won't be around next week for regular posts or updates. So, this floor should be mostly done if not done when I can post again.
I'd love your ideas for cabinets, a hot water source and a garage closet idea. TV is going on the wall, I want to hide cables. Ideas for that would be appreciated too.

Looking even better with the grout finished on the first half. Most of the heavy stuff moved over. Feels like the end is getting closer. 6536c73d801b0aa85a7f89c4eccf63c6.jpg4b1a96e158e112126fbfff1f66b68a99.jpg0630d2d61a5126dd201c10c86b0d4a51.jpgf5d271e4d0596797aa08bb6ab13d5c7a.jpg5700bb21c7e5ec0a85b8fdced36612f2.jpg
