Update: 7/17/16

House: Painting is almost complete inside the house. They knocked the garage out first so i can get the outlets wired up and the blank covers on the low voltage for the garage sensors. I just took a blank plate and drilled a hole through the middle and pulled the wires through. I finished that up yesterday and a few other odds and ends. Cut the grass around the house and fixed some washouts with my new skid steer. I obviously had to try it out. Fireplace, Garage Doors, and HVAC unit are coming tomorrow. Had to put the plastic back up to keep water off the walls as they are calling for heavy storms tomorrow. Hopefully after monday it won't have to go back up again. I plan to start hanging lights inside the garage and house this week as well since the ceiling is finish painted. Eventually the block will be painted. And the garage stairs are only temporary. They will be ripped off and redone once I'm closer to move in with handrail etc. The garage floors I'm thinking of a sealer and race deck. That will really finish it off.

Shop: The insulation crew wrapped up on Friday. I still have to get the wall around the staircase finished and then start hanging ceiling metal Tuesday/Wednesday. I need to get my Maxline setup order and installed before wall metal can start going up. I think ill work on that today. Now for some pictures!

Update 7/25/16

House:
Garage doors are up. They did a real ****** job so im making them come back and fix everything. It was just a disaster i dont even know where to start. The guy who normally installs the doors was on vacation and they sent out his helper who just didnt have a clue. Its bad, very bad. Track is 1"+ out of level. He cut one of the tracks too short. They dont even run parallel to each other. The motors arent sitting flush. He missed mounting the trusses in the ceiling and now i have to fix all of the holes. Its just very sloppy work. I do like the doors though. On another note the fireplace is installed and the mantel is ordered and on the way. The stone is also in. The stone guy is supposed to start on Saturday and finish up on Sunday hopefully. I still have some prep work to do this week. My AV guy stopped out last week and we got the tv mounts set. Ill have more pictures of that as work progresses.

Shop:
The metal is going up on the ceiling. I put white metal flashing on the walls and then it will get covered with the raised panels what doesnt get covered by the door track. Also started boxing out the parking area between the house and shop for stone. It was hot AF saturday so i only lasted a few hours. I hope to finish it up this week and have stone delivered.

I'm no builder--but I'm guessing being able to see light between the garage door and floor on one side isn't exactly a sign of a great install

Ah well. They look nice from the outside at least

That was before the weather stripping. Which they also did a bang up job on. Its just crappy work all around. It will be right or they wont get paid. The liftmaster 8500 openers actually put downpressure down on the seal. Its sealed tight now just poor craftsmanship. The more i look at it the more i find wrong

At least you know the difference so you can get it fixed/done right

Short of it not going up or down or some blatantly obvious gaps I probably wouldn't know the difference

Thanks man! More to come. Stone for the driveway is coming tomorrow and the fireplace should be finished up this weekend. I should have the driveway all graded out by the weekend. Shop metal is on hold. I have my guys working on another job at the moment. Still waiting on the garage doors.

Update: 8/3/16

House:
Made some progress in the last week on the house. All of the electrical outlets and switches are in and on. All of the lights are up in the garage and quite a few in the house. I need to get a few more fixtures next week. Leaving tomorrow for a few days off. The fireplace is done... I got the fireplace enclosed and hung the mantel on Saturday. Its a custom piece made from Red Cedar out of Texas. Stone guys did a great job Sunday/Monday. Also had stone delivered and got the driveway parking area graded out. Still need another load of stone to get it where i want it. But its a start and it cut down on the amout of dirt being tracked into the shop and house. Tile is next. Then cabinets, trim, doors, finish plumbing and HVAC.

Shop:
Nothing new has happened on the shop. Still waiting on garage doors... They are supposed to start today but they werent there first thing today. We shall see...

Magnificent home and shop! I would have a very hard time visiting the place and then leaving -- sleeping bag on the floor so I could wake up with my dreams being real.

Update (8/23/16)

Shop: Not much has been going on. The garage doors have been hung but i dont have electric yet to the motors and the weather stripping has not yet been completed. So there is no fancy hardware on them yet. I need to get my Maxline air line ordered today so i can install it and start working on the wall metal. I did put the infiltrators in last weekend for my floor drain. The house has really been my main concern right now.

House: Tile guy is still hard at work. All of the showers are basically complete and the floors are all done upstairs. He should be working on the downstairs floors the rest of this week along with some grouting upstairs. I did start working on the grading for the front yard, i plan to keep working on that the rest of the week and weekend. Even though it will all get ripped up when i have to put in my geothermal line, pipe my downspouts, and my sump pumps. Also replaced the driveway pipe with a 18" HDPE pipe and 2 flared end sections. I will get some pictures posted of everything as soon as i have a break.

Any updates, really we want pictures?

Yea alot has been going on. Mostly inside the house. Finished the tile work and the geothermal is also up and running. Cabinets, countertops, and finish trim work should be completed in the next 2-3 weeks. Then the final plumbing, paint, and hanging a few electrical fixtures. I could still be in by the end of october beginning of november. Im going to work on grading the yard out some more this weekend and getting my downspout extensions installed. I need to start on the irrigation for the yard as well. I will need to get my grass planted soon.

In the shop we have been putting up the interior metal. Im going to run my 3/4" Maxline system this weekend. I also insulated the staircase wall to keep the noise down from the compressor.

I have plenty of pictures, ill get them uploaded as soon as possible.

I like the heat in the Ditra. I planned on doing the same, but forgot to lay it in place and didn't realize it until the tile was down. Too much of a hurry to get things done for my cert. of occupancy. I still regret that one, especially in winter.

Congratulations on your project. I used Kerdi in my shower I built 5 years ago and it works nicely, no leaks, great stuff. Really beautiful house and shop man.

Ive been looking forward to seeing the interior metal go in. You gave me some great tips on doing mine in the past. A couple pics from the OH door trim area and man door trim area would be cool. I realize your probably a pretty busy guy, so if not , no problem.

Looks great.

The area above the OH doors is wrapped with white metal flashing. Then the J-channel is butted up to the door track on the sides. I will get you some better pictures here soon. I hope to start putting lights up in there this week or early next week.

As for the personnel doors, there are several ways to do it. It really depends on how you trim out the door. My exterior doors set fush with the interior purlins so i wrapped my doors in 5/4 x 4" Azak board. Then **** the J-Channel up to that. I will get you some better pictures. All of the metal will be done today except where my interior doors are. I ordered those doors this morning. And the metal for inside the welding shop. Drywall will go inside the stairwell and inside the bathroom.

Thank you! Its nice stuff, i was pretty impressed with it. It not cheap but well worth it. I have right around 2,000 S.F. of tile with Ditra underneath and then Kerdi on the 3 showers.

Looking good! Can't wait to see the shop finished!:beer:
It should be wrapped up in another month or so. I have more metal on order for the welding shop and interior doors. I should have the electric and lights buttoned up in there this week. Im concentrating on the house and getting things buttoned up outside so i can get my irrigation in and grass planted before the weather changes.

wow amazing place
Thanks guys. I've been very very very busy trying to get things wrapped up inside and outside of the house and shop. I have tons of pictures of course. I will update hopefully next week if i can catch a break. I just got back from spending 5 days in Vegas for SEMA. Wow what an amazing show. Im already working with the lady for some Racedeck for the house garage. The inside of the shop is about finished up. All of the metal is up. Have some drywall to do in the bathroom and stairwell. Finish the plumbing in the shop and get my C of O. I need to find some good industrial fans and get my air hose/electric reels ordered as well as pick out a compressor. Irrigation is going in the yard right now and I hope to have grass planted next week if it all goes to plan. More to come! Stay tuned!

Some thing are moving forward. Some things are moving backwards.

Shop: All of the metal is completely finished and every light is hung. Drywall is hung waiting on finishers for next week. Hope to get that wrapped up next week. Compressor room is also drywalled. Still havent ordered my fans or air hose reels.

House: Wasnt happy with my kitchen or M. Bath cabinets so i pulled off the granite and the cabinets have been sent back for a repaint. It made me sick to my stomach to be honest. The rest of the house is basically 95% painted. Still have small stuff like some stair parts and the front door. My trim guy needs to finish up a few things as well. Things are getting closer. Roughed in a full bath in the basement. Hung the drywall in there today too. Things are slowly progressing.
