I am wondering how many 15A citcuts i can have on a 60 a sub pannel. This is for a residential renovation i am doing.

How many spaces in the panel and where did you find it? Most panels in a box store are rated 100.

This panel is in my basement. I have a 60amp sub panel with 6 circuts in it and i was hoping to upgrade to a panel with ten or twelve citcuts

Are tandem circuit breakers available for your existing panel?
If you buy a panel with ten or twelve circuits then you could install ten or twelve 15 amp circuits.
If you buy a panel with ten or twelve circuits then you could install ten or twelve 15 amp circuits.

You can have as many circuits as you can fit, but if you have more than 6, you need a main disconnect in the panel.
If it is in the same structure a main isn't needed. They make an 8 space just for this, same can as the 6 but a couple tandems may be in order or even simple pairing of circuits in some cases especially where the loads are intermittent. What eats them up is dedicated, a furnace etc
The only thing should be on 15 is special equipment and lights.
What loads, general or cooking, heating or cooling? A kitchen really eats spaces.

You say 60 amp sub panel? do you have a 60 amp breaker in your main panel feeding this panel ? what size wire do you have feeding this panel

Per NEC, you can't have more than 6 breakers in a sub without a main breaker in the same panel to shut everything off.
Someone came to the conclusion, in an 'oh ****' moment, 6 breakers is the most someone can turn off quickly.
If you use the main breaker, then no limit on the number of breakers. The main breaker in THAT panel along with the feeder breaker for that panel protects if from over current.
Personally, I like having a lot of breakers....it makes it easier to isolate ckts....just more flexibility.
So...if it was me....I'd get a 240Vac panel with a main breaker and at least 8-10 spaces. Get a panel that also supports tandems.

He said the sub panel was in his basement, since its in the same structure as his main panel, a main breaker is not required.
