how do you like them? china or taiwan made? thinking of buying these to replace my craftsman RP, are they longer then the draftsman?

I literally got them yesterday (the day I posted).. and here in Australia we don't have Craftsman but... the finish is nice, no rough points, engraving looks pretty deep and has sizing on both sides of the open end and on one side of the shaft. They say Made in China on the box.. but like any factory it depends on the level of quality control.

I've had them for a while now. Very nice quality and they'll do great. I know professional mechanics who use them, so I doubt a home user will have problems with them.

I agree, GearWrench seem to be on the upper end of the mid price stuff and I haven't seen any negative reviews from people who actually use them. For a home user (I'm a nurse) like me I cannot see how these would ever fail to do what need them to do.

I went with this set as I really don't need ratching wrenches (thats what a socket set is for IMO) for the extra cost and it was the most complete set of sizes... If I need something bigger... well I'll be in trouble in more ways than one.

First post on the forum. Been lurking for a while and figured I should post some of the new stuff I've got in the past few weeks from the snap on truck and Amazon.

I thought those tri-lobed handles were sort of famous for ths problem...hence why they are so rare...plastic degrades for some reason. newer ones seem to last forever, must have reformulated the plastic.

Snap-on warrantied them with current drivers, but I really wanted the old Canadian product for my collection. Still, I can't complain...

Makes me wonder what the heck is in your toolbox. Or where it is. I have a bunch that were my dads that are over 40 years old and aside from some wear the handles are fine.

The toolbox lives in an unheated garage. It does get cold, but these 3 drivers have been the only victims. No chemicals are kept in (or anywhere near) the box and I don't believe they'd ever been used.

I've gotten some HF here and there throughout the years. Finally decided to upgrade over the last couple weeks. Here are some that just arrived. Socket holders fresh from WalMart. They are listed under the Hyper Tough label and have pat pending on the aluminum frame. I found these a couple of weeks ago at the local WalMart for $5.94 each. I bought two to check them out and after banging them around for two weeks I bought more. I can't find them listed on the WalMart web site, so I guess anyone interested would need to go to their local store.

They come in 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 sizes. Each one holds 10 sockets.

Craftman 7 Inch Bent Wide Jaw Diagonal Cutting Pliers (Made in the U.S.)

These pliers are similar to Channellock's model 447: (LINK). However, the Craftsman pliers are an inch shorter overall. I will see over time how the leverage in its design works in removing staples, small nails, and cotter pins.







Vim Tools Metric Ball Hex Set (Made in Taiwan)

This is a very well made set. The case is a 2 piece design; the blades are double ended (one end regular hex, other end ball hex); and the 2 position screwdriver handle feels solid. I am not too fond of the ratcheting handle. It is too course for my taste. I sprayed some graphite lubricant in the mechanism. It's a little better going forward and reverse.

Those star drills are more than a centerpunch. In the old days, that's what you drilled with. hit it, turn slightly, hit, turn, hit, turn, over and over...

I will do that sir. I do work in a medium duty shop (think brown).

The shop usually supplies the 3/4" impacts for us, but I got tired of the politics involving the tools they purchase for the shop, and finally said screw it and bought one.

If it works well, I'll more than likely buy another, just to keep a torque stick and socket on for install, and the other just for removal. (im lazy and don't like beating them off with a hammer every time.)

1/3 the price of snap on, lighter than the snap on, more power than the snap on, and quieter than the snap on (like I said as advertised). Just couldn't see spending close to $1k from snap on for something just to remove and install tires.

Does your shop provide the impacts for you guys?
