So I work nights and yesterday on the way home I passed a neighbors house and they had just put this workbench out for bulk trash pickup. Of course I scooped it up before thinking twice.

Today I'll clean it up and figure out if I'll keep it or find someone that needs it more than I do.

Wish someone would do that here, everything is on Craigslist for a premium

Killer find. I bought one of those on CL years back, got a ton of use out of it, and sold it when I moved across the state for what I paid. They're a good setup.

That is really nice. I think those were made by Waterloo for Craftsman. I would just take off the stickers, fix the top so it is symmetrical, put a nice vise on it, and hang a light over it.

The purpose of the offset top is for vice placement. Be sure to counterweight accordingly.

Do not put a vise on it, the board under the sheet it just MDF. Used to have one of those for when splitting MX bike cases, worked great for that, easy cleanup. The drawers are eh, and close in the back to stiffen it up.

Purpose of overhang top is for clamping.

I've got that bench, it's a good one. The drawers are so-so, I only installed the top drawer and use the open bottom area for storing all my bulky tools. Like Zkling above I use it for working in 2 stroke cases, carbs, etc. the metal top is great at resisting oil/fluid spills.

Decent bench, but I wouldn't put a vice on it either...

When I saw it out on the curb, my first thought was I could mount my dad's Wilton vise on it. Once I looked at it closer, the chip board underneath won't stand up to having a vise. If I can't find a use for it, I'll pass it on to another neighbor that could use a light duty work bench.

Had one of those at Mom & Dads house he bought when I was a kid. We let it go with the junk guys since it was covered in rust from the damp humidity where it was at. I took a long hard look at saving it, but I just didn't have a place for it even if I could have saved it.

I have one also. I discovered it's held together with sheet metal screws and when they loosen the whole thing sways from side to side. I squared it up, tightened it up then screwed in a solid heavy gage sheet of tin off an equipment rack on the back of the unit so it wouldn't rock. Then I made a sub frame on wheels that the bottom sits in and continued the frame up the corners and around the top using that punched HD shelving angle material. It's rock solid now, the drawers are stuffed with heavy tools and there's a 5" vise on it.

I cleaned it up a few days ago. Today I cleaned up the garage and made room for it along with some of my tool boxes. I almost have all of my tools in one place, which has never happened before.

Good find. When I was working at Sears the warehouse manager asked if I wanted one that was getting thrown out. It had a ss top & pegboard with a light (pretty much a display of all the add ons you can buy. I gave it to another tech when I ran out of room in my bay. Would have been nice to take home.
