Are blue points any better than craftsmans? I have broken two craftsmans fairly easy and thinking about upgrading, whats your opinion?

I hear good things about the Blue Point. Good deals to be had on ebay.

Craftsman makes the worst wrenches ever imo. Almost every time I've used the open end it rounded something off. Even hf is better imo. I threw my craftsmans away

I have a single 10mm reversible flex ratcheting wrench that is a Williams branded Blue Point. Brand new it's about as smooth as my most worn in Gearwrench wrenches. The open end is equal to other Williams/Blue Point combos, which are great. Haven't had any slip, and no bit lobster claw ends. If I were to upgrade from my Gearwrench sets, it'd be to one of the Williams sets.

Identical to Blue Point but at under half the cost:

Exactly what I was going to recommend. They are good quality.

BluePoint is a lot better than Craftsman. Get yourself a set of xl double box ratchet wrenches. Break the fastener free with fixed box end, then ratchet it off and you'll likely never break another again no matter what brand. I have an Expert set like that made by Mac/Stanley. At first they appeared crappy and cheap, but I've put them through some heavy work and they've held up surprisingly well. As have most all my Gearwrench.

Gearwrench has been my go to for a few years on wrenches. I haven't broken one yet. I would rate the SO ones above Craftsman, but haven't personally used the Blue Points ones.

A wet noodle left out overnight will dry harder than a craftsman wrench.

In cheap world I think tekton is better. I also like Carlyle, the blue points, gearwrench (I use at work but not for auto repair).

I have some 20 year old craftsman reversible ratchets wrenches, that have a shorter tighter action, than any other ratchet wrench I compared them too. Including just about every snap-on except the newest ones with the smaller ratcheting box end, because I have notgotten my paws on them yet. I measured the stroke of the action, how much movement it takes to turn the fastener, and they take less movement, and I can remove fasteners quicker with them because of this. I have been thinking about getting a craftsman industrial
Set because they are us made, and may work the same.

I also compared them to gear wrench, blue point several sets reversible and non-reversible, black hawk, ez red, mountain, Carlyle, and probably a few I can't think of. Mac too.

They may not be the strongest, but they are the quickest, I notice a difference in the tighter spots.

The open ends are another story. Best open end FD+, if you don 't mind bite marks. I really like the long box and ratcheting box Snappys for breaking free fasteners, the leverage makes it so easy, like using a breaker, except thy fit I. Some very tight spots, but the length does get in the way at times.

I grab the old craftsman usually before the snap-on reversibles,
I am only concerned with breaking the craftsman because they are old and I do not think the warranty would get me the same quality.

The craftsman open ends on my old wrenches, are low torque. The bend with load, pretty easily. Nothing is perfect, but the new Snap-on reversibles, with the smaller box end, might be close.

For $50/week, why not buy the Snap-On?

Weekly payments take the sting out of buying, and you have a tool truck stop by to offer new promos and service your old tools

I have an older reversible craftsman set that is great they were made by Armstrong. Probably 20 years old. The newer China reversible look similar except for the lobster claw and those are garbage

Advance Auto Parts runs some 50% off sales. I got my Gearwrench SAE/Metric set that way.

Between bluepoint and craftsman I would go bluepoint. That said since either way your dealing with a retailer for gearwrench I would get the gearwrench.
