New construction concrete sealant

I just started to so some research on the different types of concrete sealant and I found this site.

I am interested in sealing my driveway (outside), as well as my garage (inside), and eventually my basement, but not immediately.

This is new construction so the concrete will only be about 6 months old.

I've read that there are some dealers on this site, that can offer greater quality products than are sold in the big box stores.

I am more concerned with quality over cost.

What are we looking to protect from and what do you want the concrete to look like when finished?

Outside drive:
I live in Chicago, so the driveway I am looking to protect from the winter conditions. We go through a freeze though cycle often, as well as salt is picked up from the roads and dragged onto the driveway and garage. I'm looking to protect against that, as well as any oils/grease from the car. Looking for a matte or natural look

Inside garage
For the inside garage, I am looking to project against the same things, but also from the inside from dusting. For the inside, more a shiny/gloss look i'd be interested in.

I just update the post to seal or not to seal. That should answer your outside questions. Inside. Perhaps etch and use two coats of our polyurea?

The key here is what are you looking for. Just a sealer... A coating.... if I wanted a clear gloss coat for an area, two coats of the Polyurea would likely be ideal.

For a color coat, epoxy may or may not be the option. Its going to give you a higher mil thickness, which in this case does not seem to be a requirement.

Looking back at the original post, it did not appear you wanted a color, so I would stick with a Polyurea in this specific case

Does the HD40 have to be buffed to be stain resistant? Or is the buffing just for the 'polished' look?

Can a polyurea be applied to the half foot concrete lip that goes around the perimeter of the garage before you hit drywall?

yes, it can be applied to the lip. Your coverage will typically be a lot worse because that area is usually pretty rough.

Yea, I am looking at mine now, and its very rough. Maybe spray some acid for an etch and with a small roller do two coats?

I am just not sure if the roughness would take away the look of the smooth floor.

The etching is not going to touch fix the issue. Its one of those areas you just keep going back over until you get what you want. If you were doing a color, there are other things you can do but the cost versus return on that..... I would just overestimate your floor and use the leftover on that area
