Do You Use a Lumbar-Lok & Tri-Vise?

For wood-cutting and pipe-cutting,

Is there anything gimmicky about this? Or is it worth having around when there is no helping hand available?

It's not manly to use either things. Gotta balance it on your foot when cutting.

Everytime I think that is a cool idea I remember three things:

A board or hammer underneath always works fine.

Cutting at angle means the saw will want to wander down

There is a fair amount of extra handling involved in installing these devices.

I saw these in HD a few years ago- maybe lowes. I remember them being a bit pricey, but would be nice not to drag out a set of horses or a mitre saw

I just use my B&D Workmate for all my cuts, the only thing I cant cut on it are large sheets of plywood so thats when the horses come out.

We use the tri vise to cut unistrut all the time at work. I have two in the shop, one on my service truck, and one in each of the gang boxes on each job site. The plate vise and an m18 cordless porta-band you can build america!

My wife got me the lumber-lok. She was sick of me balancing fence boards on upside down trash cans to cut them.

The trash cans don't hold it as well, but they are a more comfortable working height. 6 of one, half dozen of the other.
