Jon, thank you for the update..

I have to say I love the Racedeck.

Great work all round..

Regards

Totally agree. :rocker:

I keep hearing how great those multi-tools are. Sounds like I need to add one to my collection.

1/2 Cup,
Thanks for stopping by!
Yes, I'm really liking the Racedeck.

rmalkow2,
Thanks for the visit!
You will wonder how you ever got by without one once you use the multi-tool.

Race deck in the craft room as a prep for the garage, good thinking.

xtremek,
I think the Racedeck will be the way to go in the garage.
I would really like epoxy & flakes, but don't want to go thru the hassle of moving everything out & having to store it while prepping & epoxying the floor.
The Racedeck can be done in a short time-frame and only moving 1/2 of the garage contents at a time.
Plus no mess to clean up.

Thanks for stopping by!

Are you going to keep the same style RD for the garage ? Can't wait to see it now.

GB

Grumblebum,
We put the CircleTrac pattern down in the craft room, & I like that for the garage as well.
I will probably be going with black & grey instead of black & white.
I think the white would be too hard to keep nice looking in the garage.
Thanks for the visit!

I got this tool-cart from a co-worker for small $$$.
It's very sturdy. (good thing, it led a rough former life).
It took alot of cleaning to get it to this point.
I'm going to try some rubbing compound on the lid as it is dull & scratched.
It will replace a cart I got on Craigslist.

..

..
Here it is safely home.

Hey that's a real nice cart. It cleaned up pretty well too. I just have a cheap HF model but swear by the thing. I love having a mobile cart that I can wheel out to the driveway if needed. It's my go to place for commonly used tools.
This looks like one you will enjoy for a long time.

rmalkow2,
I'm pleased with it, especially for the price.
I'm going to keep in it mostly tools I would use when working on a car.
Thanks for having a look at what I've been up to.

Here is an update to the Gutter Guard by Invisaflow I installed earlier this summer on one side of the garage.
The pictures tell the story.

..
Nothing in the gutter, & I have not seen any evidence of the rain water flowing over the top of the Gutter Guard & onto the ground.

..

..
I will do this side with the Gutter Guard next year.

Jon, that a great score on the cart.

I really have to do the same with my gutters around here as well, looks like yours have been successful.

Regads

1/2 Cup,
Thanks for stopping by!

Yesterday I filled up the top compartment of the cart with my sockets, ratchets, etc.
I like the cart alot.

It will be interesting to see how the Gutter Guards work with the Maple tree
"helicopter" seeds next year.

I polished up the lid of the Kennedy cart with an inexpensive Black & Decker buffer I purchased from Amazon.
I knew the buffing wouldn't remove all the scratches, but it sure made it shine.

..

..
We finally have the baseboard molding installed in my wife's craft room.
She loves the Racedeck!
Here's a couple of pictures of that.

..

NIce use of small space, did you give any thoughts to using cantilevered rafters so you could put a lift in at some point?

M-technik-3,

I would like to do a lift sometime soon.
Haven't really thought much yet about the best way for me to gain some ceiling height.
Thanks for having a look!

I installed a Harbor Freight tool tray to my Kennedy cart to make it more useful.
I purchased a Homak tray in blue, but I sent it back as it had a lip at the top for hanging on their brand bottom box, and there was no way to install it on my cart without butchering it.

..
I'm getting over the red.
The tray is heavy duty, and well made.
Bought it with a 20% off coupon, so it was well worth the price.

Nice addition to the cart. Maybe something in white on the other side?

Do you find you use it a lot now? Roll
To the job with tools ready to go?
Basic hand tools in the drawers or .....

Thanks in advance

Nice addition to your cart. That folding side tray will come in handy. We never seem to have enough flat work surface.

captain14,
Thanks!
I have used it several times already.
I have most of my sockets, extensions, and ratchets in the top section.
The other drawer is still a work in progress.

The tray will be very handy.
I have to figure out some type of a rubberized mat for it.
The Homak tray came with a mat, and I like that idea.

Here are some pictures of a project I did this week.
Ford has a well known problem with overhead console displays going dead.
There is even a detailed repair thread on an Explorer message board forum.
http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/index.php?threads/overhead-console-display-fix.187953/
This is the dead overhead console removed from my Sport Trac and ready for disassembly.

..
Circled is the display housing that has to be removed and taken apart.

..
The failed solder joint on the 510 resistor is the reason for the display going dead.

..
Here is the circuit board set up for repair.
Yes, the spaghetti box is necessary. (It is supporting the circuit board).

..
I re-flowed the solder joints on both 510 resistors while I had it apart.

..
Here's the money shot.
(Temperature shown on the mirror is the interior temperature).

Good job making that repair. Unfortunately Ford has had that solder joint issue on other vehicles as well. My old 2006 Freestar had that problem on the cluster message center which is much harder to got out and get to the offending joints so I never fixed it.
But here you did a professional job re-flowing that solder.

rmalkow2,
Thanks for taking a look at what I've been up to.

This is the 3rd Ford that I've had this same problem.
'99 Explorer, '04 Trac, and now my '05 Trac.
1st and last I repaired myself.
The '04 Trac I sent out to have repaired for no logical reason that I can remember. (CRS)

I just read through your entire thread. I like the economy of scale to your entire project. Nicely done.
I have a Camaro just like that too! only it's a 1955 Tbird. Sometimes it's a Corvette, and it's black! But still, almost exactly like yours. :)

y'sguy,
Thanks for taking the time to go through my thread, and the complements!

I get the '55 Tbird / Corvette thing.
Is your user name taken from the "y" block engine?
Do you have any pictures to share? (It's ok by me to post pics of your Tbird on my thread).

Nice repair Jon.

I'm still liking your cart. Haven't seen anything this side of the pond yet that is similar.

Cheers GB.

Grumblebum,
Thanks!

The cart is useful.
I got some ribbed black vinyl runner (used to protect carpet from high traffic) this past Sunday and cut a piece to fit the side tray.
Not sure what to use to glue it to the tray.

Jon, I went back to the beginning of this thread and said to myself. Oh yeah I've gone through this thread before and then realized I have never made a single post here. Shame on me. You've come a long ways from the "redneck backyard" to where you now are. Your shop looks great. Merry Christmas to you and your family Jon.
