Interesting: I have a 6 inch with the date code on the jaws and quality is superior better then Wilton but no POLAND on the handle. Still has some of decal left also. Looks like and original to me.

What Wilton model are you comparing your Bison vise to?

Can you post pictures of your vise? I currently have 3 vises manufactured by Bison and recently sold 2 others. All of them had POLAND stamped on the handle end.

I will post pic's later don't have any of the handle. I am comparing it to my C0 for me the biggest difference is the easy and precision or lack of play the swivel base and slide operate.

It ain't massive but it's a PARKER and it's Stylin' I just got this Parker 83 from a CL add. It was listed for a couple of weeks but I never quite pulled the trigger. When he lowered the price to $15 I had no choice except to buy it. Right?
Neat vise! Love the styling of that one.

Redboy: Thanks! I've been looking for one for a long time. These deco beauties spiff up nicely. Congrats on reaching Senior Member status!

Joe: Here's an old lithograph of the Athol plant in its prime. It's a shame what happened to it.

ZPII and I skipped school and went for a road trip, we captured a YOST #206 and spotted a Prentiss #6. We bought the YOST for $200 and passed up the #6 as it has the typical genetic flaws of an old tired Prentiss...
Last pic is the #6.

Take care!

Do you guys think Gift Cards would be a good idea for DR. Scott to have during the holidays for Mountain Product, aka, Wiltonviseparts.net/benchvisejaws.com?

Do you think your significant other would research his site and make a purchase for the vise enthusiast in the family (you!)?

Let's hear your opinion...

Must be the day for overpriced baby bullets, I had to pay $25 for mine and it doesn't even have a power arm! It does have a swivel base and the end cap at least. It's in such poor condition the decal is half gone! Pics when I get home.

Here is a close up of the top of the jaws/jaw towers. I wonder what the person that ground this much was thinking.

Luckily the swivel base from this old 4" Wilton fits my Schiller park 3.5" just as I expected.

Hey all. I spotted a little fella today and the owner tells me it's an International. I can't find any manufacturer with that in the name....any thoughts?

Thrumcap,
If I was told that it was an International, my first thought would be International Harvester. It looks like an interesting vise.
Can you get better pictures?
How much does the owner want for it?

$25USD. Only that picture, he's got a load of blacksmith hammers too. Think I'll ask if he has any anvils....

Thrumcap,
If it ain't broke, 25$ USD is a bargain. A normal price for the small Asian and open screw, American, general purpose vises is 35$.

Good luck on the anvils. Round here, they are priced like solid gold. I don't understand why.

I know nothing about vises but this one seemed like it would serve my purpose well enough. Is it cool or lame? Columbian D43.5.

Picked up a nice Craftsman vise today. Another member found the listing for me and it was right along my travel route today. Every works fine. I think this will be my first restore vise. I really like the look of it.

There's a few vise manufacturers where international is the second word in their name.
Check this thread http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=177829

Might be some more hits in the following search https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=site:garagejournal.com international vise&oq=site:garage

CB does that have a model number on the nose of the main screw?

Jaw width? That is the second one of those I've seen recently. (the other was on CL and gone...)

Just wanted to share this Wilton c1 (1-73 date code) with you guys. I've been wanting this style of C1 for a little while now. The style of C1 before the spring pipe jaws and after the pinned in chicago early Schiller park style. The vise came with some really interesting brass jaw caps aswell. 3bf8dbec7608bc5aea656eaa7a55eb10.jpg736650bea4ef039a3114569967d593bd.jpg

Crotalus,
Looks like you have a FPU. That's a good one. Those are like bench vises built like milling machine Vises. I have a 80mm one. Unlike yours, it has POLAND stamped on the handle. Are the letters FPU cast in the side of the stationary jaw? Thanks for posting the pictures.

Here's the baby Wilton Bullet I picked up today for $25. Date is 1-46 = January 1946. The swivel cross plate is home made, probably to replace a broken one. You can still see the remains of a sticker on back, you can make out USA and JAW on it. It's in petty nice shape over all with no big hammer dings, even on the anvil. Now the decision, keep it or pay off part of the vacation credit card bills LOL.

The date on the one I got is March 1951. It has a very tiny ding in the top of one jaw, I hope they will flip over. A beer bottle cap might take care of the missing end cap.
We won't be so lucky to find them at that price again :willy_nil

Do you have a weight on your FPU 6? I have seen them listed on EvilPrey at both an 80# and 100#.

Either there are two models: Heavy 6 and Slim 6 or some EvilPreyers have challenges reading a scale.

Anyone else out there have an FPU 6? Fat or skinny?

The "swivel cross plate" on yours is actually OEM.
I have several that are identical, kind of cheesy for such cool vises.:dunno:
Functional nonetheless...
Well bought!
