Attaching OSB directly to purlins

Hi guys. I am working on trying to finish up my 32x20 pole buding. A friend of mine had extra prodex insulation so my plan is as follows. Run the prodex along the purlins to act as an insulation. Attach 7/16 osb directly over top the prodex, nailing the osb directly to the purlins.

Is this a good idea? I know the building will not be completly air tight.

I am planning something totally different for the ceiling. 4ft insulation batts with nylon strapping to hold it in place. The trusses are 4' on center. I have seen this in a friends garage and it acts as a ceiling/vapor barrier/insulation

Thanks in advance!

It will work I did 2" EPS foam then 7/16" osb on mine, screw dont nail incase you need to remove later you will thank yourself. Caulk the seams at the posts and it works well before I caulked you could feel the cold coming in the cracks

I'm no expert so I followed what Morton buildings does on their buildings. You can see my build in my sig. Its on-going like many.

I would do more research before using the prodex! Not highly recommended and once its in there.....

I bought my blanket insulation from Morton , who is not very far from your location.(near Philipsburg I think)

Are you talking interior or exterior?

This is for the interior walls.

I see that a lot of people used the blanket insulation but it also takes away from floor space. I need every inch of space...yes I should have went bigger!

And again, as long as we can maintain 40-50 degrees, Im happy.

Yeah, you lose between the posts for sure.

Just make sure you research the bubble wrap.

So your hanging osb in between the posts on the purlins?

Sounds good.

I know the stuff.

I was looking at it too, until I did some research.

Not only are you wasting your time with the Prodex - why would you want to fasten through bubbles ? Maybe they would flatten out, maybe they will cause waves in your OSB.

Even for free I would not put that junk in.

Get real insulation and put it behind your OSB

Insulation4less is one of the biggest scammers - http://www.greenbuildingadvisor.com/blogs/dept/musings/stay-away-foil-faced-bubble-wrap

The reason for using prodex was to avoid making framing. I didnt think I could attach fiberglass batt insul against the purlins and attach osb directly over.

Your major heat loss won't be in the walls it will be the ceiling. Throw the OSB on and seal it up good to limit airflow. I would be more concerned about air leakage with your ceiling plan.
