Is This Even Possible With My Garage?

I live in a very cookie cutter house in a cookie cutter neighborhood, but overall we're happy with our home and location.

I've got a 21x19 two car garage with just under 10ft ceilings.

Assuming I get a higher-end insulated door (bi-fold carriage door, not overhead) and install the best insulation I can buy in the walls (will be a fully finished garage) and attic space, can I keep the conditions in the garage comfortable year round and keep the heat/cooling from escaping? I live in Seattle, so mild climate. This garage is going to have a lift centered in it but also be my mancave/office, just trying to make the best of the space I have.

Would appreciate any advice before I start tearing this place apart. :D

I think so. My shop is concrete block, which has a horrible R value and my door is not yet insulated. However, I have insulated the ceiling and the gable ends. That, alone made a HUGE improvement.

The fact that you have walls to insulate is great. As well, there are some awesome products available that could get you exactly where you want to be.

It will absolutely work. I am in Mn so upper 90's in the summer -15 plus in the winter. I have 2x4 construction. I keep my garage conditioned most of the time. It is very efficient. Use a quality fully sealed garage door.
