We have an older one I use on jeeps with a 12lb slider hammer... It makes the job very fast.

I've used'er both was with a screw and my hammer.... :lol:

We had a huge slide hammer puller we used to pull axles out of chevy rear ends. The wheel bearings had grooves on the OD with o-rings, and the o-rings would stick to the axle housing and act as buffers, pulling the bearing back in every time you used a slide hammer. We made up our own puller using 4" round stock for the hammer which weighed about 15 lbs. Even then, there were some that we had to use a rosebud on the housing to melt the o-rings to release the axle.
