Your link only gets me to Costco.com, and when I search their site for Feit LED shop light, it only comes up with a 4' shop light for $59.99.

Can you provide an item number for the $20 lights. I'd like to get a few. The item 689518 in the ad you pictured, comes up: We're sorry. We were not able to find a match.

Great deal! I have 6 mounted in my 3-car and light levels are approaching the surface of,the sun. Going to get two more at this deal for above my bench and lathe bench.

I have one of these over my workbench and have been wanting to get more for the rest of my shop. My wife went to Costco today and I told her to pick up a couple while she was there. She called me to see how many I wanted and I decided on 6. While she was still on the phone I heard someone talking to her, he told her that they went on sale Monday for $10 off. The guy saved me $60, thanks if it was someone on here.:thumbup:

Can they be daisy chained?
up to 4. as in 1 + 3 behind it.

I have 5 direct wired (no ground on the plugs so not recommended) and 7 going to outlets. I have had them daisy chained before I got all the outlets run and no difference in performance. They're each 1/3 A.

I bought 16 last time they were on sale, $24 I think each.

I have 10 in my 3 car garage, 2 of them dedicated to the work bench area. Almost enough :D.

It's very comfortable to work in the garage at night.

I have 10 in my garage 20x24, 2 over the work bench area and 4 over each car, I left the pull chains on so I can control any one depends where I'm working. No shadows and with all on you need sunglasses..

I saw em today, deal is on at my local warehouse. No drywall anchor? Just straight into the drywall?

When I installed mine, I drilled 2 holes right through the reflector and used toggle bolts to install them into the drywall. It was very easy to do, and none have fallen down yet

I'm pretty sure a toggle bolt is an anchor! I assumed anchors were needed but the previous post made it sound like they weren't and I was curious. The fixtures are very light afterall. Thanks!

It sure is, I would never screw anything overhead into just the drywall, that's just asking for trouble!

I mounted 6 of them using 3" long 1/4" eye bolts with toggles added to the end. I then suspend each light with the included 6" stainless steel cable that comes with each light. My garage has 9' ceilings so losing 6" is fine. The fixtures are so light I have no concerns mounting them through the double layer of drywall in my garage ceiling.

They are so light that a simple drywall expansion anchor is easily enough to hold these up for a extended period of time.

How are you guys wiring these up? Just cutting off the plug and wiring them through the ceiling?

I am going to convert garage ceiling fixture into a receptacle, then daisy chain 4 lights (because I want the lights away from where the hole is.)

Ah, I wish you could connect more than 4. 6 would be ideal, since I plan on running 3 rows of 6. How easy do you think it would be to pull a new cable through, like romex or something. With each being ~45 watts, a row of 6 would draw around 270 watts, which would be fine for 14AWG wiring.

Match the wire to the circuit you're extending - probably 14 unless you spec'd 12. Difficultly of running new Romex will be dependent on your ceiling construction. Uninsulated spans with rafters running the 'right way' make it easier. Surface mount EMT is an option too.

This is what I did. I used a handybox to get a normal sized box - my in ceiling boxes were...3.5" round? I forget, its been a few months. The handybox also enables EMT to be ran if needed. It wasn't for me.

I did simple expansion anchors, less sturdy than toggle but they seem very sufficient. I was just curious because one used said drywall screws only, which seemed lacking to me but I'm inexperienced and these are very light. I normally go for overkill, but studs didn't line up for me.

Posted by the OP, but in case anyone missed it (like me),

LIMIT 10

I had to have the warehouse guy bring down a new pallet, and luckily for me, he mentioned the 10 limit. Awesome guy, he even loaded up a cart for me to get me out of there before the forklift was done moving around in the aisle. I'll be back tomorrow to get the rest of the lights I need.

That's exactly what I did. I pulled down the builder installed twin tube 4' fixture, added a surface mount box over the ceiling box. That surface mounted box holds a duplex receptacle for the new Feit lights and a 2' extension cord drop with strain relief that hangs down for quick access for a shop vac, etc.. Very handy. The box was already switched to a wall switch, so it works perfectly.
