A Mac dealer has recently started coming to my area, I have a Mac socket set and ratchets that have given me good use with no complaints. I currently own a Snap On inch pounds 3/8 torque wrench, a 3/8 ft lbs Snap On,and I'm currently looking to buy a 1/2 drive. Question is, how do Mac torque wrenches compare to Snap On, in terms of accuracy? I'm considering replacing all my Snap On torque wrenches with Mac, I like the finer tooth head of the Mac but I have zero complaints with my current Snap On. Also, how do the new Mac Axis ratchets stand up to Snap On in terms of durability, quality, and strength?

The jury is still out on the long term performance of the MAC Axis ratchets as they've only been out a little over a year. I have a few in 1/4 & 3/8 drive and like them quite a bit. I do wish that MAC would have used their classic red hard handle instead of the rubber soft grip but, that's just me. I would say pick up a 3/8 drive flex head to try out.

I inherited 1/2" Mac torque (from late 1970) ratchet then bought new Snap On 3/8" and 1/4" torque ratchets. If your Snap On is working fine then there is no need to buy or replace it. You can buy other tools with the money. Mac seems more accurate (based on the latest calibration results) compared to Snap On even though Mac is 30+ years old. I have no clue on the quality of new Mac torque ratchets.
