A little here and there from Black Friday/Cyber Monday. All USA made. I know the EZ-locks have their issues but for $5 I couldn't pass them up.

Stepped on to a Snap-On truck for what I think was the second time ever. I'm a hobbiest mechanic but am wrenching on something pretty much every day. I still use the US made Craftsman socket and extensions that I bought when I was 17 in the early 2000's. I've only ever broken one (3/8" drive 8mm shallow) but I thought I would see what all the hype I alway's hear about Snap-On is all about. I've been buying some SK lately and have been super pleased with their flare nut wrenches and ratchet but I wanted to see what the Snap-On addiction is about.

There was a promotion when buying the 8mm-19mm 3/8" drive deep socket set where you receive the standard and long handle 3/8" dual-80 ratchets 'free.' I didn't care for the boring plain-jane ratchets so I asked about swapping them out and he was totally cool with that. I paid $10 extra but got the FX80A and FC72. The locking flex seemed to alway's be a neat idea and the 3/8" in 1/4" body also looks like it could come in handy sometimes.

So far I'm impressed with the quality of the tools. The ratchet has a very smooth action but I must say the SK ratchets have much less back drag and feel a little smoother. But, these feels very very nice. The chrome on the sockets and ratchets is top notch. I did some fitment experiments with my Craftsman sockets on some bolts on a job I was doing this evening and the Snap-On sockets DID seem to fit noticeably tighter than my Craftsmans do. Time will tell if buying this stuff seems worth it to me when SK is making some awesome tools these days.

I splurged and moved my faithful gearwrench 120xp ratchets to the service truck, pretty excited with the replacements. Still waiting on a few 1/4 drive.

These arrived yesterday, problem is I have no idea how to use them. I need to go through the panel replacement thread again. Watch some videos.

Some wrenches from ebay and local classifieds, and a fhd80 from a local seller.

10" Knipex (next to my old Cobras) and test lead kit which works great with both my newest and my oldest (20yr old Radioshack I bought back in college) multimeters.

Maybe 20-30 years ago. Far more disposable now. Best thing you can do to it is spend 10 minutes at the end of every season wiping it down with a rust preventer.

Yep, the great brands have had to adjust for big box selling. Probably on par with my 1999 Craftsman, but with some nice accessories (the scoop and light).

Examples:
Troybilt
JD
Toro
Cub
"Ariens"
...

Either way, drain the gas and run it dry every spring.

What engine do they put on the Ariens?

Rebranded NWS.

Lowes currently stocks Chinese or Taiwanese Irwin pliers, nearly identical to the NWS rebrands. I got excited at their prices first, then asked myself why one pair cost more than the others. I realized they were the only German pair.

Yes, you can see German stamped on the first 2 pliers.

I see it now.

They look just like NWS pliers, maybe, if the guess is correct, they are very good pliers:thumbup:

Not exactly a tool, but will lead to future tool purchases! My local fastener supplier is a Wright dealer so I snagged a catalog

Every time i walk into a tool store (which is often due to picking up parts+supplies for work) i cant help myself.
Few of the latest.
7" 10" cobra 10" pliers all duplicates but i love them.
Wright 3/8 normal? And long handle.
Some large picks
Extra long, long nose
M18 usb charger.
Klein 11 in 1

Are the needle nose Knipex? Also, who makes the heavy duty picks?

The needle nose are crescent.
The picks are titan. Got them from princess auto.
Ive been using the titan picks (the small set and medium set) for a long time and i find them to be very strong. I mean, to me they are consumables. Used in industrial coatings plant. Im always picking paint and resin cured powder coatings and whatever else. They hold up very well. Havent used the large ones yet.
Thats also why the knipex have no labeling left. Always cleaning paint off with solvent.

Think im going to return the light and nake my own . With a led strip and my own power source. The snap on is normally open so it cant be made normally closed. For the hutch that is fine .for the locker you want the opposite .

Recently I saw someone purchased a Craftsman set of ball end hex sockets with wobble extentions included in a blow molded case... I have neither and could use them... I don't plan on cranking the hex sockets ... i have others that are much stronger... ie SnapOn... but they are not ball end.

I also blew up my pin nailer and didn't feel like fixing it to reuse as my primary so I purchased the one I originally wanted a Senco ... it goes to 1 3/8"... they have a model that goes to 2 inches but there is no way I would need to "PIN" something with something that long... I have finish nailers that work for that.

I needed a hammer end prybar the other day... I refused to pound on one that didn't have a hammer end.

I have pallets to disassemble...

I have nails on said pallets to remove

Ok... this Dewalt Die Grinder is NOT NEW but I loaned it out TWO years ago... when it was new and just got it back.

Yep... I remember the surprise point comment... I also got $15 in points that got used... To be honest... I was sold on buying it with just the ball end... I certainly don't need the torx... it was a bonus. Also missed they were wobbles until I went to place the order. In the end.. I'm happy with them.

If you notice... I have two spots open... I need a 3mm and 4mm for something... I ordered them from Snap On... ...should be here before xmas.
