Just got word from the utility, they installed my meter and power is flowing!

I ran by the store last night and picked up four spools of 12AWG thhn for most all of my garage needs. Got the usual colors, red, black, white, green. Not going to deal with 10 or 8ga until I know for a fact where I need a 30A outlet.

First order of business is replacing the romex in the conduit below the box and wiring up a few separate 20A circuits for the contractors to run their gear. The outlet box on the right, I'll run another 20A breaker and make it look like the box on the left, but using THHN rather than romex.

About the jack on the roof, I had a perspective contractor and his foreman over to seal it up. It only needs to last a few months before the roof comes off. He didn't charge me for the work, and refused any sort of payment including beer monies. Genuinely a good guy, and hope I can hire him for the renovation.

Those boxed in meters are a strange sight to see.

How come the unistrut behind the panel along with the plywood backer? Seems redundant.

used sometimes to minimize bends to get in and out of the boxes, in this case it appears to allow the back to back bend with no offsets.??

Correct. I can run all of my conduit along the garage walls without needing to offset directly to the main panel. Also, the strut had the benefit for aligning the K/Os on the panel to the K/Os on the disconnect / meter just above the LB. Between the LB, and two 90s, I could have made almost any angle work, but preferred it to be as even as possible.

With the spacing, I was able to get my CATV run behind the 2" feed with minimal offset bending. For the rest of the house, I'll have short straight stubs going up to the ceiling. 312.5(c)

The 3/4" going to the outlets mounted directly on the plywood need an offset, but that is easy to deal with.

So far, I love the strut and keeps the holes in the wall to a minimum.
