Remote controlled fridge lock?

Here's one for you to think about. I'd like to build a locking fridge that can be unlocked with a remote control. Question is, how best to do it? I've found solenoid locking devices on ebay, but the blank space in the puzzle is to incorporate some sort of key less opening device. Any input would be appreciated.

his time of year the box stores are full of remotes to turn on and off lights. I just bought one from the orange store for our Christmas tree lights for less than $10.

You could rig the power for the solenoid through one of those, thought you would need to build an enclosure of some kind to prevent tampering.

Why remote? Seems like a clasp and a lock would work?

Ok, for remote, if you want others to be able to open it, use the clasp and lock concept. Then put the key to the lock in a small gun safe that has keypad entry. Write your cell phone number on the front of the safe.

Old school meets new school.

I have a buddy that rigged up something that runs through his smart phone for his shop beer fridge. I'm pretty sure it's a smart dead bolt. I'll check next time I'm there.

Think twice or more often before you do this. There are freon lines running around the freezer section and on the mullion between the doors. If you drill in and get that line you have just scrapped the refig. I have seen it several times and those lines are put in place before the cabinet is foam insulated and are not repairable at all. ALso some have electric heater wires in there too. This is a bad idea unless you can glue them on the cabinet instead of drilling and screwing but that glue would be easy to remove for the refig sneak thief. One refig I saw this on was in an $800,000 RV that they had to remove the windshield to get the old refig out and the new one in.
