Anyone using Kaizen foam to organize your drawers?

After watching that video, my OCD kicked into overtime and I really want to try that Kaizen foam.

Shipping for two sheets was as much as the product. I can get free shipping if I order over $100 worth.

Question: Is anyone using it and what are your thoughts?

Next step is to order some of the Schaller boxes.

Thanks,

Tim

Yes! we love it at iFixit and have drawers done with it all over. I also use it for prototyping new toolkits.

The long-tipped marker fastcap sells to go with it is handy too. When I cut it, I use an adjustable length "snap-off" type razor knife so I can set the depth.

Walmart sells camping "mats" that are much cheaper and work well. You can use 3-M spray adhesive to sandwich multiples together for thicker drawers. I'll post pics later.

I haven't but I'm seriously considering it as an option to keep tools from sliding around in the tool box in the race trailer.

I just looked at that as I am going to shadow my specialty cutter drawer. I watched a video review and wasn't really impressed with what I saw. The layers are supposed to split easily but what I saw in the video they didn't seem split very easily and looked kinda rough afterward.

There are several people on the Festool Owners Group forum who are very pleased with this product. I will be trying some out in the near future

I would call it "5S" foam, "kaizen" is too broad of a term. Regardless, this would never work for me, I either have too many tools or too few chests.... :D

I used Kaizen foam to add protection to a pelican case housing data collection equipment at work. I was disappointed with how the layers split, it was very difficult not to peel up the top of the next layer, thus ruining the contrasting colors of the different layers. I would try a different option if i were you!

Yeah I ended up buying a couple of sheets from FoamFit Tools, made in America and you can cut it with a multitude of tools. I'm planning on using my router to do the bulk of the cutting.

Ordered about $1500 of the stuff for the facility. I like it, but it was fun giving it to the ME's and having them work with it.

Note: Your fingers WILL get full of marker residue when you go to pick out the layers.
