Those are great little vises, and having it from your dad is even cooler! I've been on the lookout for that exact vise for a while....I'll find one eventually!
I thought you had one laying in that pic you sent me? Do you sell that too?

Love this thing. I inherited it (and the workbench) from my dad. He made the lead jaw inserts.
They are very versatileand work great, that one is in super shape.I have had a few really like them but cant keep them all, or at least I can't
Thanks for your Parker info Joe. This one will be ready for work (soft duty) once I make a collar to replace that dang bolt.
OK. I need some help from the Parker crew. This thing was delivered by Mr Postman early today. It is an unusual Parker but is in pretty good shape. The jaws are 3 1/4". There are no casting marks but it does have stamping on the front jaw(?). In addition, the missing collar was attached from the top.
Looks pretty early. Did Parker stamp their jaws in the early days?
Hey JIMREED2160 -I have the same vise -Check page #1957 -posts 39125 -39132-39133
At the time I was told it was a Howard Iron Works with parker jaws -there is a illustration on post 39133

KC--Parker jaws on a Howard vise. Interesting. It might explain why there are patent marks stamped all over the dynamic jaw.
Rusty--I have a picture of the underside of the slide.
Joe--Your vise looks like a big brother to this one.
Here are more pictures.
Here is the underside of the dynamic. Notice the protruding pins.
And here is the underside of the static. Notice the botched drilling job.
Here is a close up of the jaws from the side. They do not have the fit and finish of my other Parker vises.
So maybe this is a Howard with Parker jaws. Either that or this one was made in the summer of 1881 when B.J. "Bucky" Parker came to work with his dad. After many false starts on the floor, Bucky was "promoted" to marketing where he championed the black japan finish for years because "it was what customers really need".

I thought you had one laying in that pic you sent me? Do you sell that too?
Well I got another one... it's a little thing and its pretty old but I think it is still welcome here???

Drive, I have a Baby Bullet Clamp-on and a Power-arm, but not together.---Right now the power-arm has a Baby Swivel-head Fulton on it.---I'm almost positive Zoomie has both to.
Nick, the paint on your Wilton looks like candy apple red and a 1/4'' deep.---I like it!
Joe,, Micky O posted a 1/2'' jaw Baby Bullet salesman sample in the (The Biggest Bench Vise Ever Made) thread, on page 3, posts 50, 53, 56, 58, and 92 on page 5.---If he's on the up and up.---See what you think.

My guess is that it is a very early Parker. Stamping looks like "No 1" with "Parker" and "Patented June **" "1854".

Here is my early vise which I believe is a Parker. I haven't restored it yet but LOTS of similarities to yours...what do you think? 4" jaws.
Jimreed 2160 - Heres another pic
I call "B*LLSH*t" on the 1-1/2" baby Bullet...
Was the 2" TOO BIG for the "salesman" to carry???
NOPE!
Merry Christmas!

Zoomie may be drinking tonight!
