Bob,
I have been a long time lurker on this site and on your thread and have enjoyed it immensely. Your comment about Florida's "winter weather" made me chuckle as I had to go to IBM VAR training in December of 83 for the then new IBM PC in Boca Raton. I recall it being in the 70s when I arrived and the following morning the temperature dropped into the 50s. Locals were dressed in parkas and gloves and shivering. I was in my summer clothes and enjoying the warmth, compared to Virginia where I live. The next morning the local paper had an article about the Christmas parade and how it really felt like Christmas due to the really cold weather!!! I had a good laugh about it, all in your perspective I guess.
Anyway, I've really enjoyed your thread and how you approach things from your perspective, and really enjoyed your family trip stories. You brought back memories of my own family trips as a child, recalling how my parents put a twin mattress in the back seat of the Packard sedan for my brother and I to sleep on while traveling. Yes cars back then were big enough to handle a mattress that big, never could happen today, for so many reasons, including seat belt restraints. Surprising how we all survived considering the hoopla today over safety!
Hope you and your family have a great holiday and keep up the stories on your adventures.
