I see (2) 4-1/2" grinders on Sears' website, Model #2904 and #FS2600. Which one did you buy? Looks like Model #2904 is maybe a newer version?

I bought the 2904. The FS2600 shows being on sale all the time, but is unavailable to ship and there's never any available in my area. It has me wondering if maybe it's been actually discontinued for the 2904? But if this is the case, why does Sears continue listing it and raising and lowering the price on it?

Ebay has some really good deals on brand new XCP batteries.

I picked up a total of 4 brand new XCP 4.0 over the past week from two different sellers. Be careful though, I received my purchase from the second seller yesterday directly from Sears and it now has me wondering how legit this ebay transaction was? One transaction of two batteries, shipped directly from Sears, and shipped separately in two shipping boxes??? This may have been a deal that was too good, like the HF Daytona floor jack deal on that thread. I don't want to list the seller's name and tarnish it in the event he's actually legit. I'm not sure how to go about researching, or if I should just hope it was on the up and up and forget about it? Trying to notify ebay is next to impossible! Can't talk to a person and their choices in reporting an auction don't really fit the issue. If nothing else, I DO plan to leave these two batteries factory packaged and in their shipping boxes for a while and wait to see if anything becomes of it. I'll also continue to keep a watch on the seller's auction for any signs.

The first battery transaction was great, so I still recommend ebay. Just a heads up though!

They're giving 50% back in points right now, so if you use the points it's one of the better deals offered. I think it's dropped as low as $70 w/50% back in points.

A seller has the miter saw kit on Ebay (includes high-capacity lithium battery and charger) for $80+shipping OBO. The lowest he seems willing to take is $75. I thought this was a pretty decent deal, and while I already have a 12" Dewalt saw, this should come in handy for small jobs.

That crossed my mind, but it still just doesn't add up to me. The seller's feedback is great and has hundreds of transactions. He does have a lot of "private" feedback listings though. While researching last night, I found this practice is common between ebay and Amazon. Ebay seller sells an item he doesn't stock, then has it drop shipped from Amazon. In this case the seller is selling at a higher price than Amazon and the difference in price is his profit. In my case, the seller sold an item for half the price, so a negative profit margin! I like your theory better! Haha!

I just checked mine, it is 315.FS2601B. I bought it last Christmas bundled with the 1/2" impact.

The FS2600 page says, "Added on September 09, 2012"
The 2904 page says, "Added on May 03, 2016"

So I would assume that is the new model superseding the old.

I'm sure eBay is full of similar scams for other items, too. A couple years ago I "won" an Eberlestock pack for $122. It was drop shipped directly from Cabelas who, at the time, sold it for $250.

Yeah I've had good luck with SuperBrightLEDs vs. fleebay but for what it's worth the link I provided on fleebay is a 3W Cree bulb vs. the 1W from SBL.

Maybe contact Sears and give the shipping info?

OTOH easy to think of semi legit plans that are not legal, but not stealing from Sears. Somebody with a small business could buy items charged to their business and sell them on ebay for cash without declaring any of the income.

As others said it could just be related to the crazy points deals Sears has been doing.

Ive been slowly selling off my C3 stuff, sad to say. Just sold the 1/2 heavy duty impact wrench tonight. Looks like Craftsman has stopped producing the C3 multi tool and the C3 3/8 impact wrench. I don't think Ive ever actually used my 3/8 impact wrench lol. Probably selling those next. Ive converted over to the Milwaukee fuel line. More $$$ but a definite upgrade.

I'm glad to hear yhat. I think that I got a good deal on it. I went to Ace today to pick up a hose clamp and I saw the older style one speed version for $120. So. Ow I know that I got a good deal. Between the impact driver and the 2 lithium ion 4.0 batteries I think that I'm doing fairly well. I just now need to save up for the angle grinder.

The only battery I have left, a 2Ah XCP wont charge past yellow. Ive been selling off my C3 stuff but wanted to keep the wet/dry vac for the cars and possibly one other tool. Now that the XCP battery is almost toast I may just get out of the line all together. Frustrating that its past its warranty period too.

The big 4.0 XCP batteries are $69.99 now. Good deal if you need a 4.0 battery. I have two of them and they make the tools especially the saws and the vacuum work MUCH better.

The 2 lights in the picture of my collection after your post. Been using the LED bulbs for a month now, its a different type of light color and intensity, but seems to work fine for what I have used it for.

I'm seeing more C3 stuff poping up on craigslist now too for cheap, going to end up with some repeats but maybe I can bundle that all together and sell as one lot.

They are just Li-ion, any existing charger that supports those should do.

Im on the edge of buying one of those generic 4ah batteries from amazon. Been watching the 4ah craftsman batteries for awhile and havent seen them go below $70. Just cannot buy a battery for a drill that cost almost as much as the battery in my Jeep... Thats insane....

Ive had my c3 kit for 3-4 years. I've almost worn out the 5 1/4" circular saw (think its 6.5" now?) building my pole barn. The bearings sound a little rough when the saw first starts up. Other than that Ive used everything more than its meant to be and its holding up great. The kit really isnt meant to be used for building a house/pole barn so Im happy with the kit. The impact can drive a 3" screw into anything like its nothing. Very handy!

I have one and LOVE it. It has a lot more power than the older version. I have that one too.

Whats the point of the '3 speed?' The old one I have is basically infinite speed depending on how much you pull the trigger. Why limit yourself to just 3 speeds?

I have the first design one speed impact as well as the new 3-speed design. The new design is MUCH better than the first design. A LOT more power. If you leave it on number 3 setting and are not careful you will draw a screw straight through the board you are working on. I really like having the ability to turn it down for light work.

I bought the original regular driver / combo with screwdriver & batteries last Christmas. I'm happy as could be with it, it has driven in probably 20 lbs of deck screws in the past year. Last night I was using it to drive 3-1/2" screws into the top of my new work bench, it would countersink them down into the wood without hesitation.

With all the combo packs I bought, I ended up with 5 Regular & 1 Large battery. I typically only keep batteries in my drill & driver, the others are stored in a plastic container to keep the sawdust and such out. I do try to rotate using them, but typically only use the larger battery with the saw or angle grinder, all the other tools have excellent longevity with the regular battery.

I think ill have to order one to try. I have Matco electric impact tools that have more power then the sears but i still need the drill at home. I thought about switching to Milwaukee fuels

I would love to switch to Milwaukee tools but for the time being I'm stuck with Craftsman. I am aware that I'm not going to be able to build an entire house with them let alone an extension but but standard home improvement projects and repairs around the house I'm not concerned in the least. I positive that in that regard they can handle anything that I dish out.

I have the older model 1/2 inch impact and I use it mostly for busting loose lug nuts. However there are many thing that I have to break out the pneumatic impact on.

I had the first design and purchased the second design when it came out. The new "heavy duty" one. I then sold the first design to my dad. The first design works ok but will not remove much more then regular lug nuts. The heavy duty one has more power and removes the 130 ft lbs. Lug nuts from my wife's truck with ease. It has a fair amount of power but is no replacement for a half inch air snap-on impact. For home use I think it works very well. You can buy a much more powerful one than the heavy duty Craftsman but you will pay a lot more money for it. Also you get another big high amp battery with it when you buy the kit, which is nice. Also YouTube has a few good videos that comparisons the first and second design. If you have a lot of other C3 tools I think it is a good buy.
