I work at a shop and often times end up borrowing the other tech's IR 90* air drill. He's really cool about it, but I'd still like to be more independent when it comes to using tools. MAC has a deal this month where you buy a 3/8 right angle air drill and get a set of stubby drill bits for free. This interests me, but I'm having trouble finding information about the drill. The MAC part # is AD3800AH. The only other drill I can find that looks similar is the Sioux 5430. As far as I can tell, Sioux is owned/made by Snap On.

Does anyone have experience or insight about either one of these drills? My main concern/fear is lack of drilling power. Thanks.

Sioux 5430 is part of their lower end import "Sioux Force" line. It is likely made in Taiwan. Sioux's standard line is made in the U.S. in Murphy, NC. Drill speed & power are both factors. According to this link http://www.northerntool.com/shop/to...ontent=15405&gclid=CKnPks6NsdECFYK4wAodoR4KrQ the IR is 1/3 HP. It's very likely that the Mac is at least as powerful. If you like his IR, why not just get one? They are under $100. The Mac is 2X as much. A set of stubby drill bits isn't going to make up the difference.

The draw to Mac drill bits is the lifetime warranty on them, our guy will replace them no matter what no questions asked.
