I have a place at the beach and want a cheap box to keep down there for some hand tools. Was really hoping to find a used Cman box, or something on Craigslist for around $100 or less but of course when I am looking there is nothing. I was looking at the black tool cart at HF $99 or the Husky bottom box $119, OR should I just keep watching Craigslist. I'm not in in a big hurry but I am a impatient person.

If you go the HF rout spend a little extra and get the red box it's built a lot better.

All depends on storing. Both are good cheap ideas for weekend place. IMO I rather have the drawers verse open area. CL has some good buys but can also be a hassle for what your looking for.

Really depends on how much you have to "store". Also depends on any bulky items you might need to store and room for it. A few tools and some bulky items then the hf tool carts are what you need. If you have room for bulky storage then a full drawer box would be what you need.

i like the idea of a cart and then a nice 3 or 4 drawer portable box to put in the bottom open area.

HF black cart with coupon 99 bucks
tractor supply 4 drawer carry box 49.99

have a nice setup for 150 bucks all new. granted you can get more for less if you find clearance or hold out for a craigslist deal

How about 5 of the Milwaukee organizers that Home Depot sells for $20?
Guys use them a lot to hold tool kits in the trades by taking out bins they don't need. Plus you can keep some hardware in them too. And they have a gasketed lid.

Craftsman has a 4 drawer for $99, just read an email on that. It is pretty cheap all the way around. :p I have seen it first hand in the store and compared to the similar priced Husky at HD when I was looking for something similar a short while back.

In that price range I think the Husky is a somewhat better unit.

I eventually got a 75lb rated Craftsman 5 drawer for $175 Hot Buy

Place at the beach .... I would be looking at sealed containers and some kind of desiccant or keep the tools oiled.

I'm gonna watch Craigslist for awhile. If I don't get anything buy spring I will get something new.

Also keep an eye on Home Depot. They tend to clearance their tool chests/boxes about this time of year. I picked up a 26" box that was deeper than most for $50. Could have had the bottom if I was interested for close to the same price.

Husky has improved. I just got a 27" upper and lower a couple weeks ago, and it seems good so far. At least as solid as any of the old Waterloo boxes I have had.

You looking for a top box or a stack? How many tools are you going to store? I find Kennedy machinist box in my area a lot for cheap. 526? I think is the model three drawers wide in top row. I can vouch that the very bottom drawer will hold the weight of metric and standard wrenches up to 1 inch. And drawer above holds 3/8 sockets deep and normal just fine. Middle height not wide drawer will hold quarter inch sockets just fine. Fit hammers and pipe wrenches in top just fine and pliers in middle drawer and screwdrivers in top too.
