What all do I need besides a tank to add gas to my old miller 90? Im not looking to do anything fancy with it, just have something a little more usable for when I try to booger weld my junk back together.

I also think I have a regulator that came with the machine, but i will have to check to see if i can find it tomorrow and post a picture.

Where do I go about getting a tank, and what kind of gas do I need to run?

Finally is any of this stuff reusable when I eventually want to jump up to a bigger 220 welder in the future?

thanks for the help

There should be a local welding supply in your area. Take the machine in to them. Find your regulator though. They can get you set up with gas and consumables. You will need a non-flux core wire also. try ER70s-6. The gas you need is Co2/argon. 25/75.

check the polarity, you probably need to swap it over to DCEP if you were running flux core.

that is for an Argon tank, it won't work with a CO2 tank unless you change the fitting end, so if you buy CO2, keep that in mind.

It is an easy conversion if your welder already has the switched solenoid valve outlet and the gas delivery barb ****** (see the other end of the red hose).

My solenoid was a 12V G/S find, so I added a resistor of equal resistance in series so it would operate OK on the supplied 24V.

The conversion turned my welder from a slug to a wonder machine. Keep in mind that 90 Amp is not going to handle much more than exhaust and other sheet metal activities.

A typical schematic is also enclosed if you need it. And, you can move all those additions when you need to.

You are all set; just need a tank of argon. If using flux core wire, the polarity will need to be changed.

Also filler wire, hobart (home depot), lincon (northern tool) my choice.

15cfm is a good for gas shielding; the down side using shielding gas wind/breeze will distort the shielding effect.
