I'm sure some kind of shims or spacers right? Any pictures i maybe haven't came across yet so maybe I can get an idea. Any help is appreciated.

This is why I didn't even buy this cart. I liked it a lot but I know how I work so I went to Northern and got their $99 dollar cart that has a sliding top vs. one that flips up. This way I still have a horizontal surface but have access to the tools.

I like the mods here and I'm going to incorporate a few of them on my cart, like the additional drawers in the bottom.
I bring this up as this could be an option for others as it was for me.

In a way yes, you can just hook it to the side but it tips easy.

has anyone fitted one of the red side table to the black service cart? my bluepoint cart has a side table and i wanted to add another, but for $160, ill pass, so i want to put one or possibly 2 of them to my black service cart

I drilled four holes in the cabinet and mounted it with 1/4 x 20 bolts/nuts. Two of the side table holes were perfect, but two of them would have hit a drawer slide. I drill new holes in the side table bracket at a place where there was no interference with the cabinet. It was not difficult and although I did it by myself, it would be easier with two people. One holds it in place, the other drills and then bolts. I used one of the 18" Harbor Freight magnet strips to hold it in place while I marked my holes and again when I was putting the bolts/nuts in place.

Got my Snap On hinges yesterday finally and put them on last night. Having the lid tilt back slightly is much better than stock with the struts in my opinion. Only issue I have is I have a total of 7 of the HF magnetic strips on the lid holding a total of 32 ratchet wrenches and 12 stubby non ratchet wrenches and the right hinge hits the wrenches when you close the lid. Will have to rearrange things a bit but it should all work out.
That looks really great. I really like the clean, organized look that you get with the foam.

sears sells a cart with a large side magnetic tool holder and a black folding side shelf.
not sure who makes it but it would be nice if those two side accessories could be ordered.

I would tend to stay away from exceeding the design parameters of tools such as doing that. Otherwise you would need to at least build a new frame to carry the weight as some have done.

I've not used them on my HF cart, but I've got a flat cart with a small 5 drawer tool chest on it that in the past 7-8 years I've gone though two sets of HF 8" pneumatic casters, and I'm needing to replace them again really bad.
Both times I bought them because they were on sale cheaper than I could find similar anywhere else, but both times within 2 years they started leaking down and before 3 years they all go flat within days. Right now they are all flat and if/when I need to move it I'll have to air them up which won't hold for a day if I'm lucky. I tried slime in them but they seem to leak between the rim and the tire. Didn't help. I hate them. I hate myself for buying a second set of them expecting a different result.

Has anybody ever broke the drawer locks on there red cart? Will harbor freight replace them or sell replacement locks? Just wondering before I buy the 56 inch box. I'm talking about the plastic push button things you use to open each individual drawer. The 42 inch box doesn't have them it has the detents.

Assuming you mean drawer latches? I took mine off. Put them in a ziplock back and duck-taped them under the box. Don't know why, was thinking if I sold the cart the new owner would want them. Yea, there is a detent for the drawers but it is very "mild".

I have one of the red 5 drawers at work, since they first came out,
The latches are holding up really great, as is the box.
however the locks on these boxes really ****......
must of been thru 4 to 5 replacements from HF they just wear out

The lock on mine doesnt actually lock until you remove the key even if the key is turned to the lock position.

Ive got 2 of them now, I'll have to check my new one. In its defence my first one has a GP master set sitting up high under the lid and you sort of have to pull it down a bit for it to latch.

Figured I had to throw a message in here to register my surprise at how nice the black cart is. I built one my brother got for Christmas today and the quality was amazing for the price!
Left all fasteners loose until the end, no issues.
Would love to see a picture of how the lock interfaces with the lid. The lock "arm" was bent at a really weird angle and I straightened it thinking it was damaged. WRONG. They must be bent from the factory. Now I can't get it to latch properly.

My cart is modified to fit my needs well. DAMN, I wish I saw this option to cover the side... If you go back and look at my mods... one of the things that I disliked about the carts is the unfinished sides that showed the rivets for the drawer slides. I covered mine up with sheet metal painted to match the cart.
I would have much rather had your option.
