Nice find! I personally have a Cornwell SR4 1/2" ratchet. Debating if I actually want to keep it though since its not chromed and I already have a Cman -V- 1/2" ratchet that I like more.

I'd keep it, just in case the Cman breaks and you're needing a ratchet bad. Lol always need a backup! And if its not chromed no big deal. Just oil it real nice like haha

OP .. . . nice finds. Since you're new, you may not know the YS accolades you might get . . . . IF . . . we know what you paid. How much ??

Picked these up over the past week from pawn shops and thrift stores. Nothing fancy, just a variety of old quality tools. Nothing in the pictures cost me more than $1.00

Good buys in my area pawn shops you would have to sell your first born, sell your Ohio State football tickets, sell your wife & kids, put your mother in law on the streets to bring in more cash, sell your car, give blood and sell your soul to the devil...

I found some random sockets, a Bonney, Indestro Super, Old Craftsman circle H, an SK DOE, and a Plomb DBE.

I find that most pawn shops want stupid money for the **** they've got. Usually it's beat to sh__ stuff some worker wants to get rid of because his habit is bigger than his desire to keep working evidently. I'm just not gonna pay half-retail for something used to death and dumped in the Desperate Trade Center Cash Pawn Shop. I was by one on the way back to the car after meeting a city official for lunch, he's the landscape architecture person for a south FL city. We had delicious Thai, and it put me in a good mood, so I stopped by the pawn shop. They didn't have much for tools, about the only thing that was of interest to me was a Porter Cable portable handheld bandsaw. They did have a nice Kennedy machinist's chest, but I wasn't gonna pay the asking prices. So I went to a thrift shop not far away. I bought a couple of small clamps and a 3-hole die-cast aluminum rectangular electrical box cover such as you would use for wall lighting for two floods and a sensor. That stuff was $1. More like it!

Then I went upstairs to where they have electronic goods, and I bought a couple pairs of Cambridge Soundworks mini bookshelf speakers, model was Ensemble (1 pr) and Ensemble II (1 pr). Total twenty bucks. The cones looked good, no apparent damage to the tweeters either, and the cases were intact. I took a chance. I hooked 'em up when I got home, they work fine, and I will eventually put them in my garage, with a sub-woofer set at 150 hz, as that's where the mini speakers roll-off. No, not tools, but a better deal than the overpriced **** at the pawn shop. And, a good addition to the shop, when I get around to it. The turntable was bought at the same shop years ago for $30.

Pawn shops in my area think a combination wrench that someone ground thinner to fit in a tight area is now worth 3X what same new wrench would cost. Asking $5 for the blue/red handle Craftsman flat head screwdriver that has twisted tip where someone thought it could be used as a pry bar. yeah.....same screwdriver Sears used to have during Christmas time in the $10 set that had about 10 screwdrivers in it.
I know most will haggle on price some but they want to make you think you are getting a deal if they come "down" to retail price.
On the other hand several years ago I bought a couple of .22 rifles at different pawn shop because I knew they were a really good price for what they were, enjoyed them a couple years and sold for sold for about 50% more than I paid without the buyer trying to haggle me down.......I should have ask more :) , actually I should have kept them.

My favorite pawn shop find of last year was a Cornwell TR3 1/4 ratchet. Of course, it was locked up and marked $15. I got the guy down to $5, went out to parking lot and gave it a tap on concrete, got it freed up. That's when I found it was missing a tooth, but local Cornwell guy repaired it for free. I really like Cornwell ratchets, they're coarse tooth but strong and low backdrag.

I do pretty well in my opinion - which I guess is what counts. If you think it's a good deal. If not you can certainly leave it for the next guy (or sucker)
I just yesterday stopped to see a toolbox one had on CL. The box turned out to be complete junk, but I left with two 14" ridged pipe wrenches and a cross peen hammer for $20.

This past summer my wife wanted to stop at a local thrift shop. They have a small tool section that usually is nothing but a bunch of Tiawan or China sockets and wrenches. This time I found three nice Starrett micrometers. Two 0-1 and a 1-2 inch. I also picked up a set of Lufkin telescoping inside micrometers. All for $45.
