Stranger still, they're like me located in MA, but on Calif. CL. Not sure why he wouldn't separate the 4 dr from the coupe, weird. Suspect he optimistic on the price, but probably not completely out in left field.

Some ads on CL are nothing more than fishing expeditions, looking for email addresses and telephone numbers. I responded to a CL ad for a toolbox and later the same day received three calls regarding the warranty on my vehicle and how it was about to expire. In fact, the warranty on my daily driver expired many years ago.

Another explanation might be they are trying to gauge the value of something, not actually sell it.

Granted these are rare... but $37,500 rare? I don't think so.

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb/pts/5949192979.html

They're rare enough that a company was formed to manufacture exact replicas...

www.brookvilleroadster.com

They get $25,000.00, for the bare body...fenders, frame, etc. really run the price up...

But a hot rod built with one of their bodies wouldn't be a "Real" '32 Ford, would it???...It would be "Real" steel, but not "Real Ford" steel...

To some people, that is what counts..."Real" versus "Replica" is why there is a $1,000,000.00+ price difference between one of Carroll Shelby's 427 Cobras, and one manufactured in a Polish MIG plant, that is good enough to be used as one of the "Continuation" Cobras, with an aluminum body...

If someone wants "Real", he'll shell out "Real" money...

I'm sure he will get close to his asking price. There is a lot of rich hipsters into traditional hot rodding. It will be at the next trog event with e&j headlights, divco wheels etc

Yep. He'll get close to that number for sure. $8k for more door and $25k for the 5 window are close to real prices for these.

it is my impression that the market for these older cars is starting to dramatically soften. supposedly, model T prices have slumped substantially in the last few years.

as i understand it, these market are buoyed by people who remember the cars being around when they were kids. i doubt there are many around who remember model t's being actively used (as opposed to in parades).

i recall hearing that 50's vintage cars were still hanging on, and 60's were still pretty strong, but 40's and before were wilting. i also recall that 80's vintage cars were starting to appreciate in value over what they commanded 10 years ago.

I blame all these TV shows that show showing deciduous prices making people believe that's what this stuff is worth.

The 4 door wouldn't be worth much to a majority of guys.
An original 3 window is worth big bucks......I don't know if 5 windows bring that kind of $$$ though.

I restored a bunch of '32's for a good customer... they are fun cars to build!

Lots of Model Ts for sale cheap now-nice ones that were lovingly restored by a man who is now gone, and his grandchildren ended up with the car. Typically, the car has been sitting for 5 years or so. The big problem with Model Ts is the low top speed-unless you live in a very rural area, 30 mph is hazardous on today's roads.
