I want my pegboard to be 72" x 21.5". I need it to be custom to match the length of my workbench and 21.5" high. Diamondlife says I need to have my peice ready by number of holes (LxW), can some one help me please ? thank you.

Order
Custom Sizes

Hole spacing is 1" OC. Please have your piece size ready by number of holes required (LxW)

Center of first peg hole is spaced 1/2" from edge of piece, unless otherwise requested

Allow +/- 1/4" tolerance on all dimensions

Sounds like a needless discussion.....room for misinterpretation / mistakes.

Why not (Gasp!) actually call them on the phone, and tell them exactly what you want?

I would think that if you called them and told them the overall size that you want, they would be able to handle that for you.

Based on 172" and those rules there would be 172 holes on the long side.

Also, Using those rules, they are in effect saying they only sell it in whole inch increments.

So, again, I would call them to see what they can do for you, OR:

Buy it at 172 holes x 22 holes and cut off that half inch yourself to get your 21.5".

If they get mad ad you for not being prepared - your buying a product from the wrong company!

They should be bending over backwards to get your business, if they don't go somewhere else

Call them

While I definitely agree with calling them, it does make sense to independently figure out what you want to try to minimize mistakes (which is what it sounds like you're trying to do). If it were me, I would also go with a 21" height (and therefore 21 holes) and just leave a 1/4" gap at the top and bottom of whatever you were measuring from. To me that would make everything look symmetrical and 'planned out' instead of cutting the last 1/2" off and having a row of holes that are centered on the bottom (or top) edge of your pegboard. But I'm just kind of **** like that, it's not like those holes on the edge would hurt anything, it would just piss me off every time I looked at them.

So to recap, my advice would be to order a piece that was 72x21 holes.

yes i wanted to come up with my own numbers first to make sure they match theirs.

72" x 21" sounds good but it has to be converted to how many holes which i think you did it wrong.

I want 72" x 21"

im just going to e-mail them and ask them lol i want my pegboard!

I'm pretty sure I did it correctly (not least because I actually did do it wrong the first time and had to edit my post), but I can see being concerned about getting the numbers right for your garage. Here's my reasoning which you can look at to see if you find any flaws:

If the holes are 1" on center then you get 1 hole for every inch. If you had a 1" width, then you would have 1 hole at the 0.5" mark. If you had a 2" width then you would have 2 holes, one at the 0.5" mark and one at the 1.5" mark. 3" width would have 3 holes at the 0.5", 1.5" and 2.5" marks and so on. Same thing for the height. So a 72"x21" pegboard will by 72x21 holes.

Regardless of the measurements, good luck outfitting your garage!
