Found this cool looking to me old wrench. Can't make out the mfg name. Any help is appreciated.

seller says date of Oct. 16, 1883 is stamped on his, but I am not finding a patent number for that date that matches that design.

Designs are refined from the time something is patented to when it is actually produced. I wouldn't read into it too much.

I picket up a similar wrench last summer. Turned out that it was only made during the Civil War. It was in a box of old tools priced $1.00 ea.
