Saw these on CL... They just say Craftsman, and look like raised panels, but are polished chrome? They are USA too... Kind of look like SK?

What would they be worth?

I would like to go look at them but it would be like over a 50mi round trip...

USA made and look to be SK production. $4.17 a wrench and they look awfully shiny (maybe unused). I'd make the trip for that deal. If you're thinking about it - don't think too long as they'll probably be gone.

Yeah, the first pic it looks like you can make out half of the word professional... Okay, that's what I thought...

It's 7mm - 18mm.... Though the description says "15pc set"... I count only 12 wrenches... lol... Oh gosh another one of those people that can't count...

IMO, these are the best wrenches Craftsman ever made. I believe they were the original Professional wrenches and made by SK. The raised panel makes the beams extra thick so they are very comfortable to use, maybe even more so than Wright.

Well worth $50+.

Yes, clearly Professional and USA. And they're longer than a regular raised-panel set. It's a 12-piece 7-18 set. For $40 they'd already be in my box and I don't need them.

Don't make me send one of my operatives out of Fayetteville. LOL

I'll offer $40, I'm sure they will take it...

if its truly made by S-K you will find a small sideways 'k' next to the words "Professional".
They maybe have what they claim but only show 12 due to shown tool roll limit.

I bought mine from Sears in 2008. It did not come with a tool roll. Those on CL look different.

I own a set of those "K" codes...

13 piece, SK made, Craftsman professional "k" code wrenches. Long length. They are very nice. Complete set will have 7mm to 19mm

good deal for the USA made ones. I have the same ones but newer Chinese. pretty nice wrenches and they were on sale for $59 a set. I like them a lot (except for the crappy engraving Chinese tools all seem to have) but man, those USA ones are super nice! definitely worth $50 IMO.

That's because yours aren't "k" code wrenches. The 14mm SK made wrench will have PN 44904

Those ones posted by Stevenn1 do look like SK-made wrenches, but are the later (and more common) style without the raised panel design.

From what I gather, Craftsman first came out with the raised-panel design for the professional wrenches and shortly thereafter changed the design to match SK's style. A few years later (maybe when SK went bankrupt pre-Ideal?) they switched production to Apex/Danaher. Now of course they're made in China, and that switch occurred somewhere around 2012.

^^^Yep. I bought my set new, sometime in the early 2000's, IIRC. Mine are not raised panel either, but are 'K" code, they look just like the OP's

Okay, after a trip around town I managed to pick these up, along with some other goodies... lol

Funny enough, the roll-up bag is made in China... ha!

Yes they have the K on them. :) They do feel really nice in the hand and I like the extra length. Going in the toolbox for sure, will probably put some regular wrenches in this roll-up bag and stick in my truck.

Got a good deal on some miscellaneous CMan USA wrenches & sockets. Both wrenches and sockets are a mixture of SAE & Metric, 6pt & 12pt. Good sizes too.

First pawn shop I stopped at just down the street, did a quick browse trying to talk myself out of going all the way down to Fayetteville to get those Cman wrenches... Well, all I found was a nice 1/2" Williams USA speeder, a big half-round rasp made in Portugal, and a nice USA 7/8" CMan combo wrench...

$3 for the three things... LOL

After I got the wrenches & sockets and stuff and was heading back I stopped at a third pawn shop. They had decent prices on stuff but weren't really big on coming down on their prices... All I ended up getting there was an old USA CMan 3/8" drive ratchet, and a USA 18mm combo wrench. (I was looking for an 18mm for ages, now I found 2 in one day! LOL)

$10 for the ratchet & wrench... That was an okay price.

I have a set of the Craftsman Professional, for some reason thought they were the same ones Matco sold on their truck at the time?

Maybe I got a bad set, but the first time I used one of them they broke. I couldn't believe it. Sears honored the replacement without any issue.

I also have a set of the Craftsman raised panel USA, I actually think those are really underrated. They've never let me down and I like the comfortable grip.

OP, You did well, Even though I have an ample number of wrenches at home, I would have brought those home, as well for that price.

Nice buy

I know, I'm such a ***** for metric combo wrenches, you can never have too many!

So now I have:

CMan Professional - USA - 7mm - 18mm (These will go in the rolling toolbox)
CMan Raised Panel - USA - 6mm - 20mm (These are on magnet bar on workbench for quick access)
CMan Full Polished & Midget - China - 4mm - 22mm (These are in a carrying case)
CMan Raised Panel - China - 7mm - 15mm ? (Will end up in truck toolbox)
GearWrench Ratcheting - Taiwan - (That 20pc SAE/MM Combo Set) - (Also will go in rolling toolbox)

The raised panel fully polished Craftsman Professional series wrenches were actually the second generation of the Craftsman Professional wrenches. The first generation looked just like SK long pattern combination wrenches aside from the name because they were made by SK. The third version were smooth beamed from Armstrong factories.
The raised panel fully polished only went up to 15/16 and 18 mm. For larger sizes you got a flat panel fully polished wrench so that was odd having two different styles of wrenches if you wanted 19mm or larger:wtf:
The polished raised panels were only on store shelves for a couple of years like 1998 to 2000 before switching suppliers from SK to Armstrong. in the 1998-1999 Sears Tool Catalog a 12 piece set of the full polished long pattern professional raised panel wrenches 7-18mm listed for $59.99 plus shipping. Those were the days:lol:
the polished raised panels have some nice beams that are far from being knife edge and maintained the look of the classic craftsman raised panel wrench (in most sizes). Although my favorite version were the Armstrong made models that followed the polished raised panels, the polished raised panels were nice too.

13pc Full Polish Metric combos (Armstrong)
11pc Full Polish Metric stubby combos (Raised panel)

If yours are USA made they are made buy Armstrong. Which I think are better than the sk made wrenches.

But I'd proudly keep either one in my tool box. Both are top notch

They are USA, or at least that's what they say. I was told by a sears tool rep that ALL Craftsman Pro line is SK. I guess he was miss-informed. So I thought mine were SK all along. I never knew about the 'k' on the SK made ones until this thread. But mine have served me well with no issues. Thanks for the info, Mercury.
