My latest refurb.

Sometime around the mid '90's I picked up this old General bench grinder driven by a Westinghouse 3/4 horse motor. I have no idea how old it is but the fellow I bought it from claimed he'd purchased it 20 years earlier and it was used then. Anyway while sitting my garage the other with no project up on the bench I decided to pull it apart and freshen it up.

The way it's been since I bought it. Notice that sometime in it's life it suffered a traumatic amputation of the right side tool post bracket. Not much I could do except grind it down and blend it in.




Next is a shot of the sum of its parts after spending some time in the blast cabinet then in front of the spray gun.



Then the final shots after dry time and assembly. This weekend it will get a new power cord and an on/off switch.

About what year was it made?

In 1972, I bought a similar unit from Grainger and still use it today. They were made under a variety of brand labels, without many changes, for probably fifty years.

Ahhh, the sticker was carefully removed, re-applied and is original!

I plan to add a divider between the grinder and motor upon which I will mount an electrical box with switch.

Well I nixed the divider idea and opted for mounting the switch on a pedestal in front of the motor.
