I saw one of these HDX 4 tier plastic shelving units for $14 at my store. Almost got it, looked pretty nice. http://www.homedepot.com/p/HDX-55-5...orage-Shelving-Unit-in-Black-140618/300007255
They also had pennzoil platinum 5W-30 and 0W-20 for $19.06 I think.
I asked about the Milwaukee chests and they had already sold the only one they had at that price. Not sure about accuracy, but I was told that they're going to stop selling the upper and lower units separate. They said that the bottom units sell better, but they end up with tops that don't have a base and sit around for a while.

The only reason I can figure why the prices dropped in some stores and not other and then came back up. They were matching bottoms with tops. Once the bottoms are sold the tops will be reduced again. Let's hope.

so, if you wanted both long term, but could get by with the bottom for now, and were a person who enjoyed a gamble . . . . . .

It's kind of like the waterloo fiasco at Lowes around Christmas... They sold out of all the bottoms and stores only had tops... Even now I think I've only seen ONE bottom in all the stores it shows in the drop-down...

If I can't find a nice box on clearance, I'll just grab a couple of the waterloo's next time they drop to $50 and use the $15 off coupons.

They found one more weber poultry cooker and left it on the shelf. I gave $6.00 for it. Half of .03 price. They had the item no sticker over part of barcode. One area store added another end cap clearance.

With regards to the Milwaukee tool chests...Home Depot is moving towards selling the tool cabinet / chest as just a single unit. Before, they were brought in as separate SKUs for the top and the bottom and as many have alluded to...many bottoms were being sold vs. the top chests.

So to combat this, the SKU is now being brought in as just one single SKU and that rings up as the combo...similar to how they sell their own Husky cabinets / chests as just a combo...at least the 41" and 52" varieties.

I do believe, in the long run, they'll wind up losing some of their potential revenue by limiting consumers to only purchasing the Milwaukee as a combo b/c I knew of many guys who purchased the bottoms for benches, etc.

In the short term...it's benefiting those of us who are finding the top chests at ridiculously low prices. Funny thing is, is that the stores haven't clearanced / made inactive / or reduced the price of the SKU associated with just the bottom cabinets.

***EDIT: I HAVE NO IDEA WHY WHEN I POST LATELY IT'S HOT-LINKING CERTAIN WORDS IN MY POSTS. IS THIS A FORUM SETTING I CAN TURN OFF?? THANKS

The solution is simple: just don't sell the top chest individually or make it special order ship-to-store. They then ship complete combos and SOME bottoms-only to stores for normal stock.

I don't know why this is rocket science. I should work for HD but I'm too smart to get the job (that's not bragging)

That's strange because they have a combo sku already. Unless they're eliminating the individual skus.

Nice buy. It doesn't come up on line, just like those $75 freezers didn't either This product isn't currently sold in stores

Clearance items will never say the product is sold in stores.. If online shows stock of an item, it's not on clearance at that store.

No such luck on anything at my store. They didn't have the fridges (or freezers for earlier). No toolbox discounts... Nadda... :(

My store hardly keeps stock of small fridges and freezers, there was only one or two of each. I even checked up high in the rafters all around with no luck.

I missed out on the outdoor solar lights, they must have just marked them down again in the past couple days because I walked by the clearance section and noticed the lower price and they were all gone.

They did have this Ridgid battery powered miter saw discounted quite a bit.

Funny story, I went to a new pawn shop today and was looking at their chainsaws... Most were ridiculously over priced, but then I noticed a suspicious few that were marked like $20 "as-is" that didn't look in bad shape, but unless I can take the cover off and inspect it (which they won't let you) I wouldn't even waste my $20...

They were probably run with straight gas and are parts machines. And you know, if they ran or needed very little, they wouldn't be that cheap.

How did you sneak it through?

I always wait till the associate is helping another person with their back to everyone else and then I move in quick, scan, and shove a nickel in the machine! LOL...

Can't imagine trying to manhandle a mini fridge on the scanner though... lol

from HD? I'm seeing $698

Are you looking at hd.com or did you go to or call a store?

No every store will clearance something, even when something is getting clearanced, stores may have different prices. Call other stores in the area with the sku. make sure they check the in store system, not the hd.com site which you can do from any computer and will just show retail price.

hd.com site for clearance pricing is useless.

He is giving you the store location that will sell it for the lower price, Buckhead #6986 (i think) and that will give you the option of ordering it.

What I don't understand, they don't give the option for free ship to store nor can you choose "pick up today" at another location for the same price. Why bother with warehouse direct shipping when that store is sold out (I checked a few days ago, didnt see one) at a discounted price but not let one buy at that price at other HD's in the same district. While they do charge for shipping, they eat a cost of labor in dealing with shipping direct. And, if other stores are still stocking and selling at $698, why offer a discount price for ordering inventory when it could just be sent to other stores that sell for $698? I don't think this unit will be clearance for some time or at least in my area since it only arrived 6 months ago?

Calling is risky, if it is a good deal, then consider it gone the second the employee hangs the phone up.
