First rule of slickdea...I mean garage journal deals....

Could not agree more just happened to me at 2HD today. I turned around on them caused a scene and asked for manager. Ended up getting a better more expensive box at the sale price. Regular $119.99 at $49.00 plus tax.:D

very understandable & possible, though I really doubt the local person is going through the trouble of calling in. I was hoping they would PM

It is possible that was my mistake I called both stores and had them put on hold and both stores they mysteriously disappeared. Next time i go in person to pick up and buy.

I always purchase in store at customer service and schedule for later pick-up. Having a receipt in hand holds a lot of bargaining power if the product disappears before pick-up.

Calling is risky, if it is a good deal, then consider it gone the second the employee hangs the phone up.

I call another store in the district of the store that actually has the item. They'll have the same pricing usually, so then I can check the price before I make the trip. Some of the really dumb stores, it's pointless to even call them to see if they have it on the shelf because the employees are so dumb, they won't be able to find the item anyway. It's easier to just find it yourself.

Damn! I already have the Milwaukee mobile workbench and the 46" tool chest...though I'm still considering it for that price. I think I need help from bargain shoppers anonymous.

How is the quality and strength of these? Was going to go hf for a steveo bench but these look pretty nice for a workbench.

went to the local hd to buy one of those 49$ tool chest tops. they were out. some guy showed up yesterday and bought the four that they had. all they had left was the display model (and six or seven bottoms, according to the nice lady that helped me). i asked if she would sell me the display one for 40$, since she didnt have any left to sell. she said sure, and i told her i would got get one of the flat carts, and said she would go get someone to help me lift it. i met him back at the display and he helped me load it, followed me to the register with the sign, since there was no tag on the display unit, explained to the register guy that the manager had authorized selling me the floor model for 40$, and followed me out to the truck to help me load it.

the display one was in great shape, and quite a deal for 40$. it doesn't hurt to ask.

It really can only hurt if you don't ask

I can't seem to get this one shipped like I did the other unit, but for those who like leg work... The Milwaukee 30" Chest is 50% off through that same zip code, down to $225. All I could get was express delivery from a local store in the area for $79.

30" Chest @ HD

It seems like the Atlanta (zip 30324) store has great prices on other boxes too:
Husky 52 in. 18-Drawer Tool Chest and Rolling Tool Cabinet Set, Black for $349. It's $498 in my store.

Husky 41 in. 16-Drawer Tool Chest and Rolling Tool Cabinet Set, Black for $249. It's also $498 in my store.

Close to HD HQ I think. I wonder if some corporate employees did some customized pricing for their shopping later in the day?

Exactly that is how i got the one i got by talking to a manager and having mine ripped from under me. Both my HD have first class managers willing to deal.

Only the Buckhead store has this price and they have one in stock. All others are the normal price. Or at least this was the case mid week when I checked.

Nope, it's been that price for about a week. It's one of the stores that I check as they have been known to forget about clearance products in the rafters.

Debated and debated and debated... Finally broke down and got the 60" delivered. I've been needing a workbench. Thanks!

That 60" for the $349 + $75 shipping, it would be hard to get something better quality in a rolling chest for anywhere near that price. There was a Matco 4S tool chest in very good shape around here for $500 in the fall but that was a unicorn. Anything snap on, mac, matco, cornwell, etc. in that size tool chest with ball bearing rollers, etc. are usually $1200 and up.

You definitely got a good buy at that price.

The 60" Milwaukee upthread. http://m.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-...-Back-Wall-Red-and-Black-48-22-8560/206696096

I went on the website, set my store to Buckhead, and the price drops to $349 + $75 shipping. I had to check out as guest, because when I used my account, it changed my store back.
Stellar deal. I've got one on the way. I'll need to do some rearranging to make a spot for it.

I'd been considering a very lightly used one near me for $600. The reason I didn't get it then is that I'll have to remove my current bench. I'm concerned I won't be comfortable working, without room for my legs, to sit down like at a desk. I guess I'll find out.

The only other time I've tried the alternate zip code thing was with the LED shop lights that HD oversold & they never materialized for A LOT of us.

I'm just wondering how smart their system is and if a warehouse mgr walks in Monday morning and says holy ****, we sold 500 workbenches over the weekend and only have 200.

One can only hope they fulfill orders "in the order in which they were received," so if you want one I'd get in the queue. I'd be a little surprised if we ALL get our $349 workbenches.

I'd imagine SDer's are trying to order a half dozen at a time. Be interesting to watch CL for all these cheap boxes over the next year....

And if they don't have them in the HD warehouse, Milwaukee won't. All of the Milkwaukee chests are made in batches, not continuously, and shipped directly to the distributor. so what HD has right now, is all they will have for a bit.

at least this is what i have been told from someone tied to the company

What's up with the Buckhead store?

Not only is that Milwaukee priced a lot cheaper, the Husky 52" (1000-017-605) that is $498 in my store is $349 there!

Question: Will one Home Depot price-match another Home Depot???? Neither item says clearance or anything, just save $***

It is up to that store if they want to. Pretty easy to deny when they see where it's at, unless you were close by. I tried purchasing something over the phone, and if I wanted to do in-store pickup & have the price adjusted, the rep said she was going to have to call the store for it to be approved (i always thought it was the other way around). I didn't want to chance it, so I had the item shipped

It will be very very rare for one HD to price match another. It wouldn't hurt to try but when the store manager sees what the buckhead store has for pricing, they may call corporate and that could result in the buckhead store changing their price or blocking all shipping to non Atlanta area zips.

I wouldn't try getting a price match for this, if you want it, pay the extra $75 and get it shipped. The extra $75 would probably be worth not having to load it at HD, then unload it at your house.
