I bought 2 of these lights from Costco today (My birthday gift from my wife). I have removed the handle and the base. I am going to mount them to the garage wall one on either side of my hoist column.

My question is how high off the floor would you mount them. I was thinking somewhere around 2-2.5 feet....does that sound about right?

Should be lots of light for working under a vehicle at 2700 lumens a piece. They dim so you can control them and not completely blind yourself.

to be honest, I'd leave them as they are and put them on the floor where I need them. I actually bought one similar to that and mounted it on a boom Mic stand, works great. Can aim it anywhere.

I wanted something that is permanently installed and I don't have to get out each time. I mounted them on the wall last night and neatly ran the cords to plugs that I conveniently put right there without thinking of this use. I think they will work well

I'm in the set the light on the floor where you need it camp. I use an 8' sealed fluorescent and set in on pegs on the wall when not in use. Easy enough to slide to one side or end of the car so it's out of the way. The long light really cuts down on shadows under there and with the light starting out on the floor it can't fall down and crash it into the floor. Ed.

This is what I ended up with. If I find I need more lighting I have a few other lights I can move around on the floor

always know where to find it and its stored out of the way.Magnetic base is an option I think I will make one for the Snappy also

I like this idea, but what about insetting them into the floor. Need HD lexan as covers so you could walk on them. Might also hinder any jacks too. Water intrusion possible/pain to install. Hmm, I still like the idea. Great working light!

I mounted them on an IV stand so I can roll them around and aim them up or down as needed.
