Looks like the Husky 26 in. W 9-Drawer Tool Chest is on sale at HD between $49 - $54 (depending on location), excludes tax. Quantities are limited. Not sure how good the quality is but liners are not included which may make this a deal breaker.

Be sure to inspect the box before you leave the store. According to reviews, many found dents towards the bottom of this tool chest which made it difficult to remove the bottom drawer. Some were able to get a further discount as a result, YMMV

Location will ultimately determine the pricing. Both Home Depots by me have these listed at 99 bucks still. I'll definitely be on the look out though for when they drop in price.

Thanks OP.

I went to a HD by the Ft. Lauderdale International Airport next to I-95, they were supposed to have 'limited availability,' so I went there, it's my closest. I know the tool section guy maybe 25 years, he looked everywhere, and couldn't find one. I was using the SKU from the first post, thank-you for that.

The friendly woman at online sales called the next-closest store, they had two "in the rafters," off the floor, and on the higher pallet shelving. I offered to pay over the phone but they wouldn't accept payment, it was , "come get it in-person." So I went, and they had to find a tall-enough apparatus to retrieve it.

While I was waiting for them to try and get that set-up, I noticed another shopper, he was shadowing my every move. I finally went into the 'can' to shake him. When I came-out (sense of relief, insert here) I saw that the personnel had finally gotten the aisle closed-off, and the apparatus in-place to retrieve the box. The 'other guy' was there, and he wanted the same thing. So the store employee removed both the units they had from the upper pallet racks, and brought them down. He made sure to give the first one to 'the other guy,' and he winked at me about it. When that guy left with his box in the cart, the employee told me, "that box was ripped-open, and that may mean dents, or rough handling, so I wanted to make-sure you got the better of the two, since you were first to ask for the box." Decent of him.

SO, I have it, it's not out of the box yet, but it will be by this evening. I'm replacing a Craftsman home-line 6-drawer 26" box, which I'll put on CL to recoup part of my expense. I have lots of space, as-in two base/mid-and-top rollers, besides other base unit rollers, under my 8 ft. workbench but this seemed like one of those deals that you cannot afford to pass-up. I don't need a S-On box that costs more-than the tools stored in it!

A canine patrolling for vermin under the truck who may have designs on my new box.

A shot of the new top box. I replaced a Craftsman 12" deep box, this one has > twice the capacity as it's taller too. The fractional table hanging above the box I got from a friend who shut his welding & fabrication shop after nearly 52 years. Check out the phone number on it, it's an exchange, not numbers.

I purchased one for the utility bed in my service truck. Was a perfect fit and very smooth drawers for such a low priced unit. If you have a need for a box this size, you can't go wrong. Feels slightly smoother than harbor freight boxes and less wobbly. Has less thick of metal though.

Picked mine up this afternoon after ordering yesterday. The closest store had limited availability, had three when I went later but I had placed an order for one farther from home.

That store still had three in boxes marked as $49.**.

the sales lady at my store said they were "swimming" in bottoms (six or seven left) with no tops left. told her that they weren't the deal the tops were.

i expect them to drop the price of the bottoms dramatically once they figure out that all the tops are gone, and they have all those bottoms left.

I saw the 5-drawer Limited Edition, but it didn't look like as-good a package as the 9-drawer one, so I kept looking until I found the 9 drawer in-stock at another store besides the first one I checked. These have good qualities for the homeowner, I dunno if the boxes would hold up for 20 years in a commercial/industrial environment.

For me, the 100 lb capacity per drawer of the 9-drawer unit takes care of my needs, and it has more-than twice the capacity of the Craftsman top box I've removed to make room for this. The Limited Edition looked like it had a good finish on it, and you can always take the LE emblem off, and stick it onto your vehicle like the trim shops like to sell you. In the 1980's it seemed like there were a lot of cars running around with front-to-back double-stripe tape, just-below the top fender crease, and the chrome 'special edition' or 'limited edition' emblems on the right rear deck of the car.

What are you using as the base cabinet your box is onone? It's hard to see when it's turned sideways on the phone.

Is there any overhang?

Thanks

Hey guys, I have similar Husky 75 lb drawer capacity top and bottom 26" I got on clearance from HD a couple years back. Mine were still made in the USA. These are VERY GOOD boxes for a mid-grade type box. Not quite HF qualilty but equal to Craftsman mid-grade quality. Great at these prices. - Paul

It's a Craftsman heavy duty box. I chose to bend forward slightly the front corners of the bottom roller cabinet to make the top box fit. You could put a thin piece of masonite beneath the top box instead to avoid the sheet metal alteration.

I looked at this deal yesterday and our local store had 4 in stock. All of them were gone tonight. A check of area stores found one in stock 16 miles from the house. I ordered it online. Hope it is actually in stock, looks like a pretty good box.
Regards,
John

EDIT - Received pickup confirmation this morning. I'll be heading that way this afternoon.

Further EDIT - Picked up the box last night and unpacked it this morning. A small tear in the cardboard box had me concerned, but no damage to the tool box. I either have extremely good luck or the associates in our local stores treat items with care. I've not had a single dent, scratch, or malfunction with any item.

Here's the low down on the packaging. The tool box had pieces of cardboard fit between the drawers and the box frame. This prevents side to side movement of the drawers. The box is locked and wrapped in clear plastic. There are two custom cut styrofoam cradles for the top and bottom of the box and each corner is protected by a fitted styrofoam angle. All of this fits into box with an approximate 2" air gap from the actual metal box sides. The box is pretty sturdy, probably 1/4" corrugated cardboard.

Went in to my local HD today got the last one they had. box had some outside damage in the middle from where it was strapped down. anyhow decided to take a chance and brought it home. the bottom was dented in front and back making the bottom drawer tough to get out. Took a rubber mallet to it and works fine. Back is where the dent is noticeable but hey for this price i can live with some cosmetic damage. Now crossing my fingers the bottom goes on a similar sale.

I'm trying not to regret on not purchasing this tool chest. I saw two in stock at my local Home Depot, both were on a palate and the packaging looking in decent condition. I was going to replace the middle Craftsman HD and top Waterloo box I got before Black Friday and in turn would have placed them on another Craftsman bottom chest (standard duty). And this Husky would have probably looked good on the bottom Waterloo Rolling Chest, which I also got prior to Black Friday.

Its a heavy duty Craftsman, i got it on sale as a closeout for <$90, they sell full price~$325. I bought 2 as the door model and 2 as multi-drawer model, which list slightly > $ & when the sales guy told me the prices at closeout I asked him, "how many do you have?" I bought them all.

If you freeze the phone pic so it doesn't auto-rotate you can zoom in on the pic of the upper front corners of the Craftsman base cabinet & see where I used an adjustable crescent wrench to provide < 1/8" of clearance by bending the bottom box top front corners forward. No, no overhang.

What are you using as the base cabinet your box is onone? It's hard to see when it's turned sideways on the phone.

Is there any overhang?

Thanks

This deal was posted on Slickdeals a number of days ago, that place is a a fire hose. That's why these have disappeared everywhere.

If it's an open box or display, ask for a discount they will give it to you. If the box is damaged, take it out in the store and if there is damage and you still want it, ask for a discount.

I would bring the one you have back and get a discount. I bet they'll knock it down to $25 if you ask for it. It's damaged, they do not want it back and they want the sale. Play up the extra travel, etc. you were forced to make. They will definitely take money off if you still want to keep it.

You would have to show me that! I just bought one on line, will pick it up on the way home tonight. That's OK, to many tools ( If that's possible) and need to get better organized.

I thought about it, but honestly for me not worth my time and effort for $20 ish bucks off

Just got a call from Home Depot, the 26" box was all smashed and bashed up (even though brown cardboard box looked intact), resulting cancellation of my order without my authorization. Irony is that a good handful of reviews on their website indicate that the product packaging is a fail, worse than other big box stores. I'm a bit appalled by this, but I'd figure that it isn't a big deal. My 46" box has a slight dent on the center-midline brace and the Husky logo was partly popped out. All was easily repairable, but the way the associates described the 26" box sounded like it was beyond repair. I'm glad I wasn't fully invested into Husky's toolboxes. Its usually Craftsman, Kobalt, and HF boxes available around me,

Believe it or not, when it comes to prepping for the holidays, Home Depot / Husky doesn't do a good job inspecting the toolboxes before placing them in product packaging. Then they also come all the way from the other side of the world. At least HF does a little better job in this area. Whereas another company which also failed in the packaging sector is Waterloo. A bunch of boxes torn and damaged at Lowes prior to Black Friday resulting in managers to pull the boxes from the retail floor space during the holidays. Very few quantities were intact and functional. But I think the blame largely goes on Lowes' associates; I've seen them mishandling those $35/$50 boxes during the holidays.

I just sold my old Craftsman 6-drawer box on CL that I replaced w/the Home Depot 9-drawer, so the end cost to me for the > twice the size-capacity Husky 9-drawer was $9. I like that. Plus, the drawers support much more than my old Craftsman did. The Craftsman roller bottom cabinet I had to slightly bend-out the front top tray sheet metal to make it fit, that took about 2 minutes.

How do the drawers look from within? I'm trying to see the scale of this. Hoping that HD will someday bring this back in stock at the discounted price.

I'm not surprised, as long as the box is intact. There were far too many reviews mentioning inadequate packaging material on the Husky boxes that made me resist the offer. A lot of stores across the country are still selling for $50 but not available locally. I'd still be in for one if they all of a sudden became available.

it's a lot better quality than the 50 buck waterloo boxes lowes had on sale
