Wipe New - First Use

I have a couple of these Cordomatics and thought I'd clean them up and get them hung. I took it completely apart and cleaned / greased it, then tried to tackle the outside. I couldn't get anything to bring it back, not purple power, multiple degreasers, hell, I even tried very light buffing compound. Here is how it turned out with a simple swipe of "as seen on TV" Wipe New. I'm now a believer. Do be careful if you decide to use it as it's quite poignant!

I don't really have TV, so I have never sen the commercials. What type of "Wipe New" is it? They seem to have lots of styles.

They were absolutely filthy. I don't actually know which version I bought offhand. I'll post the eBay link later.

I don't have a before, but when I do the other one on Saturday I'll be sure and take a before shot. Nice examples by the way.

I have a cordomatic 900 identical to Twertsy's except in gray. I love the retro look and would like to put it to use, but the cord ratchet-stop mechanism is a bit temperamental and I haven't yet fully disassembled it to determine the problem. Anyone done so?

I did. Its a very simple mechanism and I'd imagine an easy fix, even if you know nothing about it.

I wonder what is in that stuff...I assumed it was just a silicone wipe or something like armor all...

let us know how long it stays looking nice, or if it wears off or any other problems...

Yeah, it's interesting. The package says no silicone.
