The date on the slide key is 7/16, so I'm guessing the date on the side of the static jaw is the date it was cast.
Has anyone seen one similar to this ? The only marking is on the bottom JMF. It is as tight as a Wilton and has a brass nut. The jaws are 3" and held on with a stud that has been peened. The handle ball ends appear to have soldier on them also.
if any of you want a scratch and dent 8 inch wilton for around $1100 shipped PM me and i'll give you details.
The new looking Wilton 600 with the old style jaws is intriguing. I sent Wilton an email asking about it, let's see if they answer.
BLS: thanks for taking the time to find out the information. i thought that style Wilton wasn't made any longer.
ALL: so while BLS mentions his 6 inch Wilton has the old style jaws that are screwed in from the back one of my clients is selling an 8 inch new version of the same style. since i don't shop for new vises is Wilton maybe bringing back this AWESOME version of their bigger vises?

Hello all!
I hope you are well!
I am not sure if this is appropriate, so I will take it down immediately if asked to.
I am shaving my head bald March 5th to raise money for the St. Balrldrick's Foundation to help find a cure for childhood cancer, because CANCER *****!
If you are able to donate to my baldness, in any amount, please do!
I realize money is tight and you have responsibilities, commitments and your own personal charities and vises to buy!!!
They are a very reputable charity, please look it up or send me a PM and I will fill you in.

Yes it does [emoji4] .. Thanks for your pre purchase advise (aka prep talk telling me it's worth it haha)72: That Wilton C2 looks even nicer now that it's yours doesn't it? WELL DONE!!
GMAN: so now you are telling us your WILTON MAGNET actually can put WILTON VISES ON HOLD UNTIL IT'S CONVENIENT to pick them up??
YOU THE MAN and can you drop that magnet off if you head back my way for a summer vacation?
G-Man that raised number looks suspiciously like a casting date, the same style that is commonly used on engine blocks, cyl. heads etc. It's read as 7 as in the last digit of the year (1987?) , the "E" would be the fifth month (May, A = Jan. etc), and 10 the day of the month. "Matching numbers" car guys eat this stuff up, but not my cup of tea. Here's a closeup of another 600 that shows the raised casting on the main body that BLS thought might be a date code....second digit is an E on this one which makes it even less likely to be a date code. I can't imagine a manufacturer changing the mold every day, or having an insert they changed regularly. My guess is it's a mold identifier, or something similar.
This vise also had the old style jaws, new style tailcap assembly, and "600" logo on the right.

Thank you for doing this. Cancer *****, indeed. My wife was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer last December. I'm happy to say she's KICKING ITS ***. Cancer doesn't just take its toll on the person. Whole families are thrown in the tumbler.
I hope you rip your goal a new one.

ZOOMIE: great cause and almost the worst thing that can happen to a person and their family. i lost my little sister about 3 years ago to liver cancer. she was healthy one day and then sort of felt not ok and went to the Dr. and they told her she had 4th stage liver cancer and 9 months to live. that girl was a brave soul and never complained even with cheemo that extended her life to 15 months after that Dr. visit.
are you shaving the beard too or keeping that just because?
good luck and if i wasn't almost mortgaging my house again to pay for my daughter's wedding i'd send you something and i'll still try.
Many of you have been rooting for me in my quest to remove the swivel jaw locking pin on my Reed 406. I am proud to announce that it came out this afternoon with the generous help of fellow member jziggy.
The technique we used was from Carla (thanks again Carla) involving making a puller with a piece of pipe, some washers, and a half inch-13 grade 8 bolt.

Must've been an off week. What's the weight on the German style anvil?
