Weird Craftsman 1/2F-3/8M adapter

I've had this adapter in my spare sockets for years. Don't remember where I got it--probably with a bunch of sockets at a pawn shop. I've never seen anything like it. As an adapter it's useless. The detent ball goes way too far into the socket to be of any use and it's rotated 45deg from where it "should" be. So I'm assuming this must be some sort of specialty adapter. Does anyone know what it is? I'd be happy to find it a new home.

That is weird. Any other markings besides Craftsman?

It does look familiar for some reason.

Yep. It's used to extract the stud in all of us.
