Here's one for the fabricators, this is actually a very decent price on 39" sliding F-clamps from Gibraltar. It appears they've done their own version of Bessey's "morpad", ie a heavy duty swivel pad.

It's hard to touch clamps this big for a little over $100. These are just 4.75" throat so a little shallow but still useful for clamping big weldments IMO.

Today only FF199W or FF199H gets you free shipping on orders over $199 (I always order clamps in pairs).

MSC item # DG72599186. Note the DG prefix is critical to getting the $119.00 price. These are clearance and it said they had 19 in stock when I ordered so presumably now they have 17 in stock.

They do also have a 59" clamp for $219.00; DG72599178; presently shows 30 in stock.

I wish I could afford a couple 59" but it's a little rich for even my blood despite being a competitive price for new

Hell yeah! Action is smooth, quality of pad seems high.

Good luck! I hope they are better than the last batch we got from Bessey...

A few, the screws seized within hours of unpacking them. They said we overloaded them. Really? Welders not "overload" a clamp????

Others, the ball and sockets on the floating side were so crappy that they endlessly walked off the work when tightened.

I'm not talking a little wandering, or walking as the result of pretzel-ing the clamp, you couldn't even use these things.

Brand new.

If you managed to get one to stay on, you'd be six inches from where you started and all ****-eyed to hell.

Pure garbage.

Yet all of the Besseys we bought a few years ago are just fine. Some are missing the pads and a few bent handles, but they still work.

In fact the ones that are missing the pads, where the ball is in contact with the work, they don't walk at all! lol

I just clamped one down as tight as I could across my 3/4" top table. Seems to work like every other F-clamp I've ever used. No walking. The main beam bows a little but that's normal and they're supposed to........or at the least it's unavoidable.

Sorry you had that experience with Bessey though, that *****. Are their clamps still Germany or are they all China/Taiwan now, too?
