NS-18 that I have been working on, on and off for a couple years. I finally got it running. It was built 12-4-1952 and no they don't make them like this anymore.
I still need to restore the blade welder but it looks like a Swiss watch inside and I really needed to get the saw running.
Sorry I don't have any before pictures of the whole machine. I got so focused on taking pictures of the parts so I could get it back togeather I missed the forest for the trees. LOL It was pretty rough but mostly there.
Wow there are a lot of parts in one of these.

The only parts missing now is the ratchet mechanism for the power feed. I got a lot of parts from Grob for this saw as they are still in business and really helpful. But they have gone to an air feed and do not make these parts anymore.

Here is what I have. The table filler feed plate with the holes in it and the saw tooth ratchet plate. I also have the weights and the chain. I'm just missing the ratchet mechanism under the table and I can not even find any pictures of what it looks like.
If anyone has any pictures or parts for this please let me know thanks.

This is a 3 phase saw, so I have installed a FM-50 VFD to run it. I welded a box into the frame to mount it flush. I also placed some remote buttons to run it.

We have an old Grob in the lab. I'll see if I can get any photos of under the table Monday or Tuesday.

(Edited because I'm a *****.)

NICE JOB ON THE GROB.

Thanks, any pictures would be great. I scoured the net and can't find anything.
I know I'll have to fabricate them myself. Just hopping they are not too complicated.

Definitely a nice looking saw, keep up the good work! When my wife and I are finally done with the current house hunt one of the smaller dual purpose saws like yours is next on my to-own list.

Cool pulley setup, I was trying to figure out something for my 20" wood cutting Delta to slow down for metal prior to picking up a 20" metal/wood saw and that double jackshaft setup was discussed as an option. It's good to see the idea is valid, even though I no longer need the option.

You really knocked that resto out the park, love the inset box for the VFD, I planned to do something similar with mine.

Thanks, while the vari drive is easer to change speeds, what I like about the pulley set up is you can't really wear it out. Grab a new cheep belt and your back in business. And I don't really change speeds that often.

So, upon further inspection....our Grob is pneumatic. It's never been hooked up to air since I've been here, I just assumed it wasn't.

Sorry.

Anyone have a picture of the underside of their table, that shows the feed mechanism? Thanks for any help.

I just got one at auction today. 4V18 Serial number 752 which would place it in the 60's to 70's possibly. I will pick it up Thu or Fri. PM me what I can send you.

Thanks, your saw was an inspiration. The whole time I was working on it I kept running into jobs where I wish I had the saw ready to use. So I'm sure it will get a good workout.
